Without more scoring the 9th, this would be only the second loss where the opponent scored less than 6 runs.

Absolutely garbage bullpen management again. Lord is one of your better relievers. Stop burning him out like this.

What's the issue with letting him go a few innings when he's pitching well in a close game and giving everyone else a rest?

Because hes good and we might want a good reliever tomorrow with a lead.

Lord isn't a mop up guy. He needs to be used as a high leverage reliever.

Bum can't throw strikes, but we can't take.

Gameday showed Milas fouling off 3 pitches below the zone.

CJ gets on 4 times with only one hit.

i don't see a 2-0 deficit as a mop-up situation though.

It wasn't exactly mop up, only down 2 runs.  It was still a winnable game and he did a great job holding them down.

Not saying they shouldn't watch his workload, and yes he's good and needs to be utilized effectively.  But now you've rested the rest of the pen so there is that benefit.

With Parker throwing 40+ pitches yesterday and Schultz 35 the day before, the only low lev guy available was Ribalta. The Nats weren't using the other hi lev guys (Perez, Varland, Beeter). Not sure  you want to use Poulin after throwing  25 yesterday. They basically decided to burn Lord and rest the other 7 guys in the bullpen.

Should have started Jacob Young.

There's always the conflict between throwing the kitchen sink at any given game vs managing for the whole season.  I think Butera has been doing a really good job of using the whole roster and keeping everyone engaged, excited, and put in positions where they are more likely to succeed.

Vivas is horrific in the field.   Tired of seeing him out there

There is no logical reason to have Nunez Tena and Vivas on the team. Dump one. We could use a third catcher as The position is a black hole. Or bring up 5th OF.
