The Shorebirds staff is brutal. Hard throwers with no control. I watched them hit 6 of the Braves batters on their opening day.

https://www.federalbaseball.com/washington-nationals-prospects/90575/nationals-minor-league-hitters-off-to-best-collective-start-recent-memory

Paul Cubbage provides a general discussion of the hitting success in the minors. Currently, Nats have the 3rd most hitters at 100 wRC+ or higher among all systems at 22 (behind LAD and SFG). I wonder how much of this is because some of the hitters are a bit behind where they should be on their league assignments. Somebody like Cayden Wallace has  a 159 wRC+, but was already exposed to rule 5, is almost 25, an SEC bat when drafted, and is a bit older than Eastern league average. Still, it's nice to see TJ White being productive at A+, even if it's repeating a level. He's only 22.

Another interesting observation from Paul is how many players have BB/K > 0.50 and ISOs > .150. That's a nice measure of plate discipline and pop. Past 3 years, there were only 1 or 2 each year in the whole system (0 in full season ball the past 2 years); this year, there's 13.

Each of the four teams have at least one hitter to get excited about. Even if it’s temporary, it’s better than it’s been in a long while.

Farm team records are meaningless.  We’ve seen that in the past.  We seem to have a number of guys though at Fredsburg with good potential. Need to hit on a few of these guys.

Combining all teams, the Nats have the 2nd best minor league record. The last time the org had a cumulative winning record in the minors was 2014.

Rochester is currently 22-19. I thought I heard yesterday that the last time our AAA affiliate finished with a winning record was 2019.
