I'm curious what the playing time split will be in AAA OF between Crews, Hassell, Franklin, and Pinckney. Glasser is up there as well, though he can play 2B at least too. With the DH I suppose they'll all be able to play every day.

Probably all 4 play with one rotating through DH each game. Roster page also shows Levi Jordan, Leandro Pena, and Jack Rodgers in the OF. Jordan probably gets released. Pena is heading to Venezuela.

Rochester's lineup tonight:
Franklin, DH
Ford, C
Crews, CF
Ortiz, 1B
Hassell III, LF
Pickney, RF
Lipscomb, 2B
Morales, 3B
Short, SS
Alvarez, P

Rochester wins 8-7.

Alvarez got lit up. Gott threw 1.2 scoreless. Ribalta and Rutledge closed it out. Crews went 1-4, BB, 1K, 2R. Ortiz went 2-2, 2BB, 3R, RBI, 2B

Kind of feel like this Rochester team is much better than years past.

Interesting to see the positions. Franklin at DH, Ortiz at 1B, Morales at 3B. Crews getting a run at CF over Pinckney and Hassell. Middle infield held by AAAA placeholders.

so you figure they'll do a 4 into 3 positions, plus maybe dh on occasions.

I guess Jorgelys Mota will start in A+. Curious where Angel Feliz ( or Cruz, whichever is the good one) starts out.

Now that's a positional logjam. Exciting to see.

And this wasn't even mentioning James or Ramirez.

soem interesting players at A+ - Feliz (a/k/a "The Angel who didn't stink"), Fitz-G, Mota, Petry. Vacquero showed something last year, too. Then there's the busts - Brown, Green, White . . . True Colors.

Heading up to Harrisburg Tuesday for Opening Night and the next night. I’ll be interested to see how they look, especially when it comes to basics, as I thought they were lacking in that area last year. Delino DeSheilds  is still the manager, but some other coaches are new.

I think neither Ogasawara nor Grissom have appeared in a game this year. Any news?

Federal Baseball's updates on a player and a pitcher or two from each team in the system during the early going.

For the Fred Nats, Sallick highlights Ronny Cruz, who is OPS > 1.000 in the early going. Mentiona Sime's and Landon's starts as being short with excellent stuff. Notes BA calls the Fred Nats the 7th most talented team in the minors.

For the Blue Rocks, it's Angel Feliz (the better Angel?), who seems to be swimming rather than sinking with his aggressive assignment to A+. Notes how Cruzis drawing a  ton of walks so far with far fewer Ks; mentions Fitz-Gerald and Petry also as walking a lot. Calls Yoel Tejada impressive but raw.

For the Senators, he notes the whole team is "killing it," but singles out Sam Peterson. Has an OPS of > 1.000, and both him and Seaver King still think they are playing in the AFL (a good thing). King is walking too. For pitching he focuses on Davian Garcia and Eriq Swan as looking good in limited innings.

Of the big names at Rochester, he focuses on Dylan Crews.
Quote
The former second overall pick was sent down after a brutal spring. The idea was to have Crews rebuild his swing and confidence at a lower level. So far, the results have been solid, if not mind blowing. Crews is hitting .278 with an .830 OPS. One thing I do like is that he is walking at a 17% clip. The whiffs have been high, but after his spring, that is not a giant surprise.

Crews hit a mammoth pull side homer the other day, which has gotten him going. In the last week or so, Crews has really heated up. If he can push that OPS close to .900, I think he will force Paul Toboni’s hand and get a call up before too long.

Discusses Ortiz (good start hitting) and Ford (not so much, but, you guessed it, still drawing walks :) ) .  Notes Alvarez and Cornelio have had good starts, but goes into more length of Cornelio, who he says has looked particularly good.
