They split the Red Sox and Yankees years when they visit NL ballparks, so the NYY will not move the year vs year numbers that much. That said, last year  includes the Red Sox in the final numbers while this year doesn't have the Yankees yet. This year does have the Doyers already.

Among the teams currently in wild card position or trailing the Nats by 4 games or less, only SD and the Cards have played at Nats Park. Cinci, Pitt, AZ, and Cubs have series coming up. Additionally, Philly has 2 series and the Marlins 1. Those all could be meaningful as long as the Nats stay in the WC hunt. I expect the Pirates series on 7/3-5 to be packed.

To be honest some of it is tourists and other visitors IMHO.

I’m just poking Ian cause he said while back the problem with DMV fans was that the accepted the poor play and kept showing up and therefore ownership had no incentive to improve.  Or something along those lines. My view is that it is usually out of the fans control

A lot of the Nats attendance is tourists and out of town fans. I've gone to games when tourists not with the road team show up for a game. I think having school back will hurt mid-week games
