Apparently, Mikolas's short outing was planned. He had thrown 184 pitches in his 1st 2 starts, so the braintrust wanted to limit his pitches. Lord's relief / piggyback was planned.

The guy whose only redeeming quality is that he can eat innings needed a break in his third start?

I know. The only reason you sign him is so you have an arm to abuse.

I can get going light on Littell for a bit because he was a late signing but Mikolas should be full go.

Yep, you don’t sign a 38 year old for their future.

in fairness, I don't see a lot of guys who had gone 180+ pitches their first two starts. IF they want him for 30+ starts, it was probably time for a short one.

If Mikolis can't even go twice through the order, then its time to convert him to a reliever

Come on. Livan used to throw 90 warm ups before each game.

Looks like Waldichuk blew the inside of his elbow. Does not look good. Hope it's a cramp

Not great LH options at Rochester. Penrod has been awful.

Nats have placed RHP Cole Henry (right rotator cuff strain) and LHP Ken Waldichuk (left forearm tightness) on the 15-day IL.

Ribalta and Rutledge recalled.

damn. I thought there might be something wrong with Henry due to his usage pattern and, frankly, results. As for Waldichuk, I suppose it's good news that they did not pick up a tear right away.

i suspect that it's procedural until they get the MRI results.

Trevor Williams threw a 15-pitch bullpen session in West Palm Beach on Friday, his first since being shut down during spring training with a recurrence of discomfort following last summer’s internal brace procedure on his right elbow.

DJ Herz, returning from Tommy John surgery last spring, continues to throw bullpen sessions in West Palm Beach but has not yet been cleared to face live hitters.

Josiah Gray, on the 60-day IL with a right flexor strain, is continuing forearm strengthening and stability work but has not begun throwing yet.

Butera says Henry's MRI was encouraging, doesn't sound like he'll be out very long.
