Garcia Jr dealing with wrist soreness.
Is he going to the IL?

MRI tomorrow, will know more after that per Butera.

Ortiz would be the likely call-up if Garcia heads to the IL, he's already on the 40-man and is also a lefty.

per Nusbaum: Garcia Jr. day-to-day with a minor wrist sprain. No IL.

Per Zuck:
* Clayton Beeter is throwing off a mound
* Cole Henry threw a 30-pitch bullpen
* Josiah Gray has resumed throwing
* DJ Herz and Trevor Williams each threw bullpen sessions this past weekend

Legit forgot about that guy. Gotta wonder if he is a rotation option after the deadline

Hes the exact kind of pitcher that this coaching/analytics staff would excel at.

Yea. That and there won't be anyone else. Littell, Griffin, and Mikolas are all gone at the deadline. Gray is probably done for the season. Williams will be ready and they will want to do right by a veteran and give him a shot to showcase his ability and health before free agency.

Cole Henry starting today in the FCL.  Threw a perfect inning with 2Ks and is out of the game.

no need to rush him. The righty side of the bullpen is kind of stacked right now. It'll be interesting who gets sent down when Beeter and Henry are ready. I will guess it's Alvarez, Ribalta, and Schultz on the bubble.

Schultz ought to be the first to go down, but maybe they want Alvarez to continue starting in Rochester. I would DFA Mikolas and make Alvarez a starter with the Nats. Of course, niobody hired me as President of Baseball Operations.

I would try Mikolas as a reliever first. First 25 pitches, hitters have a sub .500 OPS against him.

Best starter for Rochester might be Chandler Champlain but Cornelio has had 3 good starts this month before blowing up his last start Thursday.

Lord would be on schedule to take Irvin’s next start.

It's official - Irvin to the IL with a right  shoulder strain. Poulin called back up

https://www.mlb.com/nationals/roster/transactions

I suppose Poulin will  be mostly an emergency option. He can be sent back down before Irvin's spot is due. They can skip his slot with Thursday off and just go with 4 starters until 6/2, or they could slot in Alvarez next Saturday or Sunday before or after Littell.

Toboni on the Junkies this morning.

Irvin's injury is considered minor. They expect him to come of the 15 IL on time and be ready for a start.

Josiah Gray is "going through his progressions." Feels good. Going to let him dictate the time. He's in Florida, rehabbing.
