The Trop is a dump but the world's largest shuffleboard complex is an easy walk away  :D

Ah...I didn't know that...guess if there's no roof at either park, it really doesn't matter what county they play in...

I’m reading about it.  They thought the tape was lost but found at Bing Crosby house. He was co owner of the Pirates. Maz was ill and didn’t make the showing. 2010.

Pirates gonna Pirates. Konnor Griffin assigned to the minor league camp. Barring a last minute long term contract, they're going to keep him down to get an extra year of control.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/03/pirates-assign-konnor-griffin-to-minor-league-camp.html

actually, some of the arguments for sending him down echo the Crews factors - minimal exposure to AA or above, weak average in the spring despite the power he's shown. He probably could use  some time in the minors to really show domination. Maybe Wood is a better analogy?

Would be hilarious if he pulls a Skenes and wins ROTY and they don't get the extra year of control OR the PPI draft pick.

Hasn’t griffin been pretty bad the second half of spring training?

Yes. An OBP overall below .300 for the spring. He has about 100 AB at AA in his career, I think it’s the right move.

yah, the power is there but the obp isn't.  Probably the right baseball and development decision. Pittsburgh I think truly would like at least a WC with Skenes and the pitching this year, but they are being more prudent than we were with Crews. Griffin is still so young.

He hit early but over the last three weeks he was more akin to Crews. That tells me he was sitting dead red. Once pitchers started to mix in all of their pitches he struggled.

Kevin McGonigle makes the Tigers' OD roster, OPS of .888 this spring. Just 21, drafted in 2023.

Hopefully he's the model for Eli Willits.
