Nate Pearson DFA'd. Good ERA  but lots of walks and average xERA. Probably worth a waiver claim.

Guardians' 2nd round pick LHP Logan Schmidt is heading to LSU or a JUCO rather than signing. He was the #12 overall prospect. Slot value is $1,598,900 and the Guardians only had $1,717,885 left to sign him. Agent says they wanted between $3 and $4 million.

I'm convinced Misiorowski is a robot. All 66 fastballs that he threw today were at least 100 MPH. He threw 30 at 103 MPH or faster.  No pitcher has ever come close to do this before.

i looked it up. Ryan had a pitch over 100 mph but radar was different back then and it's possible, though unproven, that the pitch would have been 108.5 if using modern measurement methods. I don't think Ryan ever through this hard consistently though.

I recall a game where H-Rod threw a bunch in a row at 103 but with the distribution of a blunderbuss

Mets scratching Peralta from tonight's start as he's likely to be traded. There are reports that the White Sox are trying to get him in a trade that would include Boston Smith (the guy we traded for Mead).

Boston Smith sounds like a character in a Phillip Marlowe story.

Former Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader is out for the season with the San Francisco Giants. He was in a scooter accident where he reportedly drove his scooter into the back of a fire truck and that fire truck then ran over his injured foot. Witnesses are saying that he was seen drinking at various points during the night before the scooter accident.

The Dodgers have a sweetheart TV deal from MLB that no other team has, which gives the Dodgers about an extra $66 million per year. This loophole should be closed. Other than this, the Dodgers aren't doing anything not available to any other team.

The thing about the Dodgers is, yes, they have a ton of money, but they also have one of the best farm systems in the game and they are constantly drafting well and producing good prospects. The Tarik Skubal trade isn't about the Dodgers flexing their money, it is about them flexing their farm system.

Yes they got him for a song compared to projections, but maybe we should consider that a rental of Skubal just isn't that valuable. Skubal is pretty clear that he is all about the money and we should absolutely expect him to test free agency and perhaps become the highest paid pitcher of all time. Nothing wrong with that, it just means that the odds of whoever rents Skubal for the rest of 2026 signing him to an extension is pretty minimal.

they were talking about this on the radio earlier. Because of their bankruptcy the dodgers get to keep a high proportion of their TV revenue until 2039. It's impossible for other teams to compete with that.

Two gems from the Cubs color commentator...

'there's no-one better than PCA at playing the field...' (a girl at every ballpark, no doubt... :D ).

'talking of that trip to DC, James Wood's been placed on the IL - that's great news!...erm...well, maybe not for Wood...'  ;)

There's a similar ironic one in Aussie Rules - Jake 'The Package' Stringer is known by his GWS team-mates as 'The Parcel...'   :D   ;)
