Also, apparently if you want MLB.TV, you have to buy an ESPN Subscription as well.

I saw some posts about that, but others say it was an erroneous post on bluesky. I haven't seen any official confirmation so we'll just have to wait and see. With spring training broadcats starting soon, hopefully they've got the purchase and local cable partner situation straightened out in the next few weeks.

I'd be very surprised if they don't reach a deal with those two providers by opening day. I don't know about Xfinity, but I've been a Fios customer for five years and carriage disputes have been almost nonexistent with them in that time.

What I saw was you had to sign up for ESPN Unlimited to then sign up for MLB.TV, but ESPN is offering a free month promo on sign up and you can cancel immediately afterwards and still keep the MLB.TV subscription. So a random extra hoop to jump through but technically no extra monetary cost if you remember to cancel the Unlimited subscription before the free month is up.

Of course, I have no idea how this works for anyone who might have already signed up for ESPN Unlimited at some point in the past, do they still get the free month or would they have to pay in order to unlock the ability to sign up for MLB.TV?

Well, I just purchased a season subscription right through nationals.tv, which redirected me to mlb.tv. Never had to do anything with ESPN. Maybe that's just for the full package?

My understanding is that you can still sign up through MLB and use their app.  At least for this year.  Have read that next year they will fully transition to ESPN. Waiting for my renewal notice from MLB. Usually comes around this time.

What's the difference between ESPN+ and ESPN unlimited. I have  had the former in a bundle with Disney+ and Hulu for a few years.

ESPN Unlimited is everything ESPN including the real ESPN/ESPN2 and all the linear channels, plus whatever was on ESPN+ like out of market hockey, early day PGA tour coverage, random college events.  ESPN unlimited is included in a lot of bundles like Directv, FIOS, and coming soon to xfinity, YTTV, etc or is available standalone for $30/month.

ESPN plus is now rebranded as ESPN select and just includes what was on ESPN+.

In market Nationals.tv doesn't seem to have any affiliation to ESPN for 2026.   The out of market mlb.tv can be got cheaper if you have it, or they make you sign up for a month free trial that you can cancel.

It's a confusing mess for sure.

ESPN Unlimited also includes WWE "premium live events" (formerly known as pay-per-views) and some other exclusive live events.

nothing yet. I'm waiting to find out if FiOS will carry and what streaming options are available. Hopefully we'll know something by the end of February.

I'm a capitalist, but if taxpayers are footing the bill for these stadiums, it should be so much cheaper for fans to watch and listen.

Per Zuck: Spring training games to be streamed for free, nationals.tv is still working on local cable access deals.

Does any league hate their fans as much as mlb?

I'm watching it now, the audio mix needs to be fixed, way too much crowd noise, I could barely hear Butera and Toboni during the interviews.

The MLB app is a long overdue upgrade over MASN. No commercials when streaming the replay. Fast forward, rewind, and pause options. Stats on the side that update based on where I am in the replay.

I could hear them.  Also thought the new field reporter was good.

A couple interesting things looking at that.   Nationals.tv and 14 or so other teams allow you to buy the single team Nationals.tv regardless of where you live and possibly without blackouts for the local team (just national exclusive games wouldn't be included).

The teams that are still being produced by the rsn seem to have geographic restrictions still.

It's a great way to have fans lose interest...

i can't imagine there are any fans that haven't lost interest already, who will suddenly lose it because there's no TV deal in early March.
