I haven't compared it to the Gameday app, but in any case it is a vast improvement over the MASN app delay. MASN used to be a minute behind real time. The radio broadcast via Amazon Alexa is 10-15 seconds behind real time, allowing me to easily pause Nats.TV and let the radio catch up.
You don't need to do that.   There is a native option in NAtionals.tv to switch to radio audio.

On my tv, push the up button, select broadcast options, choose WJFK.

Sound quality is awful.

Oh wow, that was easy, why even bother with a second booth for the TV guys?

Seriously, why do they even have Kolko and Frandsen there? I don't dislike those guys but Charlie and Dave are better and they are effectively redundant.

This option is always a couple seconds off for me. Not egregious but noticable and annoying enough that I prefer to still manually sync the radio and TV feeds together.

Plus honestly having the actual broadcast come out of a real radio feels cozy.

Why not just cancel fios tv and buy Nationals.tv for $99/year, and get YouTubeTV, Directv Genre pack, or Sling for your other live TV needs?

As long as there's no stupid Leeches MASN logo, I'll listen.  Even to Franny and Kolko.

We had to upgrade our Verizon Fios package and because of discounts for being loyal customers for so many years it will only cost us a dollar more for a year.

https://www.thebanner.com/sports/nationals-mlb/washington-nationals-broadcast-changes-masn-NZ7TJL6TA5F73MEQBWPEE2QMVQ/

Nice Banner article on the new network and broadcast changes. Discusses Kolko's and Datt's MoCo origins and the rapport among the announcers. Emphasizes some of the production changes that, for instance, allow mid-game interviews (not done by MASN). The network sends a producer on the road now so it's simpler to use the MLB local media resources for more spontaneous content creation, like the Adam LaRoche feature when the Nats played the Pirates.

Quote
“We’re not doing the old broadcast,” Frandsen said. “So get used to the new broadcast. Because it’s going to be fun. ... It’s going to give you a new perspective on what really is the new MLB umbrella.”

“An embarrassment of riches,” Datt said of the team’s new technologies.

And a breath of fresh air. Frandsen said he was treated well when he worked for MASN, whose Orioles broadcasts provide most, if not all, of the on-air features now touted on Nationals.TV.

But he acknowledged that “it wasn’t the best of relationships” between the Nationals and MASN. Last year, the Orioles and Nationals ended a lengthy legal fight over television rights fees associated with the network, with the Nationals receiving an unspecified settlement.
