I got the Nationals specific plan through mlb.tv. Was going to be $99.99 plus tax, but I was able to get it for $71.00 out the door using GovX.com for a military discount (Something those of you who are or know military folk should consider) It’s good to watch baseball again after kinda drifting away from it when I moved away from DC. It is weird not knowing anyone on the team anymore since they have all left or retired. Frandsen and Kolko in the booth will take some getting used to as well.

I guess no blackouts for  you unless maybe they are playing in ATL.

Shouldn’t blackouts across state lines nullify MLB’s antitrust exemption?

I'm curious if he does get any ATL blackouts.

They've tweaked the wording on the mlb.tv a fair amount leading up to the season, and now says this for Nationals.tv.   That would imply that if you buy that package which seems to be the same package you'd buy in Nats territory, you won't get local blackouts.  It could be possible with mlb taking over most of the streaming rights.

NATIONALS.TV
Stream Nationals games without blackouts LIVE or on demand for the entire 2026 regular season. Plus, access to MiLB games and MLB Big Inning.

Other teams have some different wording and aren't available outside the local territory.

I wouldn't think so. I don't do much out of town watching so I'm sure but I think a few of the folks in remote territories like the Tampa market have said in the past  they could not get MASN feeds when the Nats were playing against the local team. Some of the people in the Philly and Mets might know better.

I can’t get any Marlins or Rays games here in Orlando. Legally anyway.

Good to see you around.  Many of us drift in and out, I suspect.  Not as much time for rabid fandom as other life priorities take over.

I signed up for a month of nationals.tv yesterday and enjoyed watching the game.  Video feed seemed solid, audio (radio) feed was mostly good but some glitches here and there.  I don't have much to compare to since I haven't had cable since 2020 and could never be bothered "working around" MLB.tv's old market restrictions, but so far so good.

Here's my update.  I just spent an hour on the phone with Verizon to select a different Plan that includes the Nats.  Mostly they were clueless, likely because they are in different parts of the country.  I've had Verizon for 10 years but a year ago they upgraded my cable to true fiber optic.  My internet speeds didn't change.  So after requesting a Supervisor, Paul, says I need to upgrade my internet connection equipment and a Tech needs to do that.  Have an appointment for April 1 and will have lower monthly bill because I'm dropping the landline that I never used.  Anyone with old equipment or speeds may be in the same boat.  Go Nats.

Upgrading someone to fiber without replacing the connection to their home is the most cable company thing ever

I would cut the cord but I'm intimidated by what I'd have to do to stream some TV, not to mention I'd have to chance the verizon email address that I"ve had forever and use as security access to some websites.  I'm a 60s kid.  Love to flip channels.  Verizon has their hooks in me.

I joined this forum for one reason.  I have been looking and looking for info on how to watch the Nats without paying for Nationals.TV  and this forum is the ONLY place I could get any useful information.  Thank you all for all info I picked up from your discussions.  I have FIOS and apparently a higher tier because my husband was able to see the game yesterday on 579 (I was down at the tidal basin - long story - but was able to listen on 106.7)  The only issue I did have is that even though my husband watched the game real time on 579,  when I tried play the recording of the game, I got nothing.  Don't understand that yet ...
Again, thanks for being helpful.  It sure has been a struggle!

This just in:

Dear Nationals Fans,

Thank you for your support in our season-opening win over Chicago!

While we celebrated Blake Butera's first win as a Major League manager, we understand that for some fans, the experience of watching the game on television was challenging. We want to take a few minutes to address that situation and make sure we're doing right by you.

While we did our best in the past months to advise fans on preparing for changes taking place for this season's broadcasts, specific channel locations and distributor information were not available until the morning of our first game. We know that's not ideal for planning purposes, so we wanted to make sure that we get you all the right information to be able to watch the Washington Nationals.

Nationals.TV is widely distributed on cable and satellite in our home television territory, which includes Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia, by major distributors such as Charter/Spectrum, Comcast/Xfinity, Cox, DIRECTV and Verizon Fios. If you are told that Nationals.TV isn't available on those platforms, it's simply not true. However, it may require a change to your cable or satellite package. The exact channel information can be found on Nationals.com/Watch. There are some important details that we would like to convey:

Please check your cable equipment, as you may require a new cable box to access our channel. For Comcast/Xfinity users, if there are technical issues, please reach out to Comcast/Xfinity.
Verizon Fios carries Nationals.TV but on a different tier than you may have accessed our games on in 2025.
Any specific issues you may have are best answered by your local cable or satellite operator to confirm your package includes Nationals.TV.
One of the best options to avoid missing any action is to subscribe to Nationals.TV. It's easy to use and you can find more information at Nationals.TV. Once subscribed, you can also watch Nationals.TV directly through the MLB App on your smart TV, Roku stick, Google TV, Apple TV, etc.

Our priority has always been to make Nationals games more accessible for our fans. We understand that there have been some growing pains in the first days of the season, and we want to fix that. We are excited for the season to begin and for you to be able to watch our games.

Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your passion. Go Nats!

On a higher tier than MASN is absurd. If I still had Verizon, I’d cancel over that

I did NBA league pass for a month on Amazon last fall.  One month of the Wizards was more than enough.

Regarding FIOS, I found this in the Sports Business Journal:

Verizon issued a statement on the situation that reads, “With Verizon Fios, Nationals.TV is currently available on our Most TV, Ultimate TV, and Mundo Total plans. It’s coming soon to Your Fios TV. It’s not available on Local TV Plans. While we aim for consistency, the move from MASN to a team-specific feed has resulted in some changes to our tiers. Plans may require an account review or an adjustment to align with the new MLB-provided feed”

So far it's a better start than MASN had.

Verizon prefers the Orioles.

a bit of a freeze at the start of today's broadcast, but otherwise no issues.
