Standells were a LA band who wrote Dirty Water before visiting the city, IIRC. The Lyres were awesome. I don't know why they didn't break bigger. [I Want to] Help You Anne was a favorites. 


The Lyres, The Neighborhoods, and the Atlantics. The latter released their album before they really honed their songs and sound. They grew on me.

when I was 9 or 10, Nelson made an appearance at my summer camp. He signed autographs after some instruction. When I  went for an autograph, I asked him to sign 2 so I could send one to my Mom's aunt, my Godmother. He put a #2 next to his signature. Even then, I laughed. I mailed the autograph to my Godmother with a note about how I got it. When she passed, I remember helping to clean out her stuff and finding the note more than a decade after I sent it to her

That Dukes of Hazzard car used to be parked on 211 right before you hit Sperryville going west.  I spend a LOT of time in Sperryville, as it's the gateway to Shenandoah NP for a lot of my trips.  Spend the day yesterday clearing blowdowns on Buck Hollow Trail, just a few miles up the hill from Sperryville.  I presume Jones lived in the immediate area.  I hadn't seen the car in at least 10 years or so.

Rappahannock county facts - Traffic signals = 0.  Grocery stores = 1, the Corner Store in Sperryville, a very small deli/grocery.  Last time I was in there I saw Bob Ryan, former weather man for NBC Channel 4 for decades.  I also saw Bob in Hopkins Ordinary once in 2025 buying a growler.

He did live in that area—he lived somewhere along Harris Hollow Road, which begins in Little Washington next to the Inn, runs directly past Patrick O'Connell's house, and then heads out into the sticks. The reason you didn't see the car in Sperryville is that he moved it to Luray when he opened up a "Cooter's Place" location there.

Regarding people who live(d) in Rappahannock County, the late Wendy Rieger, also of Channel 4, lived there in the final years of her life.
