It's fantastic to have both the men's and women's gold medals back in the hockey universe headquarters...

Great play by Werenski beating Mackinnon to that puck. He flies under the radar in Columbus.

If Canada became the 51st state then the combined scores of the USA and Canada would exceed those of the Norwegians and win the Winter Olympics medal count and seriously damage Norways' threat to world peace. :)

Man, I havent experienced this much irrational anger about something completely beyond my control since Tom Potis penalty in double OT game 7 in 2008. I can laugh now but ive been a rat bastard all day lol

They got goalied.  Happens. You guys have enough golds. We don’t get ours very often.

Fair play and congratulations to USA (evn the Tkachuks lol).

FWIW pretty much everyone around the world was rooting for the US the last time they won Olympic gold in men's ice hockey.  Not sure about now.

I can think of at least one Scandinavian country that was probably rooting for the US  :mg:

People can feel however they want about the U.S., that’s their right. We’ve got challenges, no question, and I’m still proud to be here. What’s not up for debate is the level of talent and competitiveness we keep putting on display. The USA produces winners, consistently. This weekend was just another example as we got a W over a country I'm happy to say is probably the best neighbor to have in the world.

I've been following Hellebuyck since he played at UMass-Lowell as a 1 and done freshman and played Yale in the Frozen Four semis. Yale beat him in OT early on its way to the 2013 title, but it was clear he was the NHL-caliber goalie that day & season. That Yale team had a bunch of the non-NHL players who played in the  last Olympics. Good to see the NHLers.

I wonder what it's like on the flight back to Miami that has all the NHLers returning home. I think the US and Canadians are on the same flight, maybe with the Slovaks and Finns.
