curious who is pitching for Japan. will Sasaki participate and, if yes, start? I'm assuming both Yamamoto and Ohtani will pitch. Will Imai?

I mean they don’t play every day.  So don’t need a five man rotation. But need guys in the pen because the starters won’t be going long into games. So the last two guys will probably be in the pen.

That rotation is miles better than last time where I think Merrill Kelly was the headliner IIRC.

Harry Ford will again feature for Team GB - last time Team GB gave the impression of 'no expense spent' (remember those uniforms?), so he should fit right in at the Nationals... ;)

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/team-puerto-rico-considering-withdrawal-from-world-baseball-classic-amid-insurance-issues.html

Apparently, the insurer is denying coverage for guys coming off surgery or who had 60 day IL stints, as well as insurance for older players. MLB teams are left at risk.

Team GB has some legit recognizable MLB talent beyond Ford. Israel as always has some surprises like Tommy Kahnle (wife is the connection)
