wonder if Lile/Wood is a typo? Source is Zuck on Bluesky

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/nationals-notes-wood-cavalli-williams.html

This article suggests that the Nats may be looking at increasing Wood's versatility at a minimum or may view him as a better defender than Lile so preferring him in the more demanding corner OF position, especially when Lile gets a day off against a lefty or is DH'ing.

Also mentions Cavalli adding a sweeper (I think that's mentioned above  already).

I think they're throwing jello at the wall and seeing what sticks.

No one on this MLB roster is a long term piece or will be part of a competitive Nationals team.

what you're saying is they are not going to be competitive for more than 6 years, or that even Lile, Ford, and Wood aren't good enough to play for a .500+ team. I don't buy the latter, and don't think the former is likely.

Wood and Lile feel redundant on this team, similar profiles weak fielding corner OF with one solid tool in a lefty bat, only difference I can tell is about 7 inches in height...

I say you move the one less likely to sign long term for pitching as soon as you can and make the other a full time DH.

So far today, the hitters are making Myers look like Tom Glavine. Nice challenge by Chappy.

they are both athletic enough to play corner D. I will give Lile's arm a chance to heal.

Nunez with a legit double to the rf corner. 2d & 3d 1 out.
Wood gb scores 1st run

Nice escape from a leadoff double by Irvin in the 3rd. Showed a nice curve to k Mauricio for the 2nd out.

House shot a 2 hopper down the line past Bichette to leadoff the 4th. Off Kimbrel. Chappy sf brings him in

Oh so you mean the only tool that actually matters for non-pitchers?

Good to be back at the ball park today. Port St. Lucie was full of Mets fans (as expected…I think I might have seen a half dozen Nats fans.
Nats looked pretty good settled for good small ball rather than relying on HRs(I left in the bottom of the 7th so Mets were still scoreless).
Weird observation about Clover Park concessions….regarding utensils, you can plastic forks and spoons but I couldn’t find the knives…that hot dog smoothered with chili and cheese without wearing it

They seem to be taking a long look at Hassell in CF. He was talked up a lot by Butera before Spring. Has anyone seen him? Does he look fat or strong?
