I'm seeing 2.5 out of the Wild Card. Still the best offense in MLB and suddenly our pitching is looking better.

It was around now in 2012 that Shoeshineboy and I had lunch at gas station Tacos in G-burg.  As if on queue, the team tore off on a hot streak that led them to 98 wins and a division title.

Might have to consider a re-do.

Expectations were so low coming into this year that I find I am feeling wins and losses more since there's a decent chance for both every game

Yo WNFF Sunshine Squaders!
Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side.  :koolaid:
Looks like there might be an actual worthwhile product on the field this year.
Will wonders never cease?

great to see you still looking for sunshine. If you feel like it, there's a stickied thread for folks who haven't posted in a while. I think it's been since St. Stephen Strasburg was pitching. Hope you're still playing.

Edit - just saw your post there.

The Nats now have over 100 more runs scored than the Red Sox.

Yeah, he'd been wanting to move into that new yuppified development nearby, finally got it. I hope it works for them.  When I worked a couple miles away I went a couple times a month.  Now maybe once every 6-8 months since I live in Va.

I expected significant improvement from coaching and managing improvement.  Neither of which show up in PECOTA or any other projections of performance, but are real.

Wow, we took 2 of 3 from the Braves?  Was off the grid this weekend.

Shut down their much vaunted offense.

Mentioned in the record by games played thread, but the latest the 2024 team was 1 game over on 5/10. Before that, the 2021 team peaked on 6/30 at 2 over, and 7/1 was the last day over .500.

1 game over today. Get to 3 over, and the comp becomes to 2019.

Can we commission a statue of Mike Rizzo just so we can all topple it like he was Saddam Hussein?

I'd settle for scrubbing out his pictures so that he's a non-person at Nats Park.

do like the Soviets did in their encyclopedia when the killed off Beria. Get rid of his entry and expand the entry for the Bering Sea.

Expand the entry in the Nats Encyclopedia for Tanner Rainey.

His bones are already on display at the Natural History Museum.

I was thinking that this might be the first time since 2005 that both the Nats and White Sox were  over .500 on the same date, but I was way off. CWS had a good 2021, and were 1 game over .500 on 7/1 before really picking up the pace and ending 93 - 69. Niiiice!

White Sox also had  a strong 2012, so both teams ended up > .500 at the end of the year. In 2005, the teams were a combined 105-57 at the 81 game mark as the Nats started 50-31 and the CWS were 55-26 on their way to the World Series. 2005 and 2012 are the only years both teams were .500 or  better.

For fun, 9/18/2012 was the last day the Pirates were over .500 that season, so it looks like 9/18/2012 was the last time the Pirates, Nats, and White Sox were all over .500.

Grant Paulsen is organizing a parade down half street at 5:25 PM in honor of the Nats going over .500

Starts at 1015 Half Street and goes to the CF gate. I imagine 20 or 30 people will attend.
