Today's game was unbelievably painful and I am very upset. With that said, it's been a long time since I was actually PO'd about a loss. It feels good to care again. I hope the team is PO'd and plays their tails off this weekend. I'm optimistic.

There was a point in the game where CJ wanted to call for a review of a strike but didn't. Replay definitely looked like a ball. The good part of this is that Butera spoke to the team about not wasting reviews on marginal calls early and CJ listened to coaching.

Good point...when dimwit dave was "leading" this team, I'd simply laugh it off as the expected outcome.  The fact that it was the Fillies compounded the angst today...

So who will be at the opener tomorrow?  Worked out so I will be in town next weekend when they are away.  :(

We can completely transform our experience, of this season, if we simply learn to embrace failure... ;)

Nationals are 3rd in MLB in runs scored.

4th in average.

5th in wRC+ at 124

Pitching? Ain't no sunshine was a great song

I am surprised, especially with Wood's slow start. CJ is doing Wood things like walks and pop, but for this offense to work you'd figure you needed Wood, Lile, and CJ going well. House is doing better than expected, and also the bit parts (Wiemer, Vivas, Young)

Sunshine: Nats have scored the third most runs in their first nine games in team history, and this outburst came against three playoff teams (including arguably the best team ever assembled).

We all hoped they'd take 1 or even 2 games, but realistically it's not a huge shocker to be outplayed by the reigning two-time WS champs.

yes. Would be nice to be 4-5 coming out this last stretch, and 3 of the losses should have been wins either with an effective bullpen or with the kind of run production they've had most of the year. Running into one of their 2 worst scoring games when Poulin, Littell, and Waldichuk limited the Phillies to 3 runs also hurt.

Some notes from the Nats:
Quote
PRETTY OFFENSIVE
The Nationals rank third in Major League Baseball with 55 runs scored and rank among Major League clubs in batting
average (4th, .270), slugging percentage (5th, .429) and on-base percentage (6th, .340).

The 55 runs are the most by any Nationals club in team history (2005-pres.) ahead of the 2019, 2017 and 2014
Nationals who each scored 49 runs through the first nine contests...Looking ahead, the 2019 Nationals scored
59 runs through their first 10 games.

This season is giving me 2009 vibes. Lotta high scoring that sometimes overcomes a weak bullpen. And for the record, 2009 was still the best worst season ever. Very entertaining season.

maybe all those fans who were griping about the lack of bunts back in 2008 were right.

The sneering tone when some one says "manufactured a run"!

What an inning!!
