I like Peralta, but I  would have thought Peralta being so affordable would not have been a consideration for the Mets

seems like that would have been a good return for Gore? I really have to wonder if we've got a sky-high asking price for him on the idea that we might be able to compete before we lose him?

Tobias Myers also going to the Mets. Myers is solid so this makes it much less of a steal for the Brewers I think.

I think it's pretty fair all the way around, and maybe a little in favor of the Mets.

They get a full season to negotiate with Peralta, while getting his performance at less than 10 million. They gave up a guy whose ceiling is a #3 and 5'7" 2B/OF without a hit tool.

I mean, the Mets have positioned themselves nicely to go get Skubal and actually compete with the Dodgers.

nice.  I think a good defensive CF will help SF in that park. Getting any offense makes that a bargain. Don't know if last year was a fix or an aberration.

Giants sign Luis Arraez, 1 year/$12 mil.  Likely ends any pursuit of CJ Abrams.

Luis Garcia is happy that he's been beaten out as the worst fielding second baseman in the NL.

Yesterday it sounded like Toboni is not pushing hard on dealing Abrams. He sounded like he's not initiating calls and just fielding inquiries waiting to be blown away. Otherwise, he probably thinks his guys can coach up the defense from CJ and Garcia. Garcia wasn't bad in 2024 so maybe they think they can get him back to that level. I think they are in for disappointment but we'll see

A back up catcher to compete with Connor Wong. I had suggested a Ruiz for Yoshida deal because I thought Ruiz could be a backup catcher there in addition to the lux tax relief for the Sox that the deal would give them (for nearly no addition to the Nats total payments owed the players involved).

BoSox send their #11 prospect, RHP David Sandlin, along with $8 million, to clear $16 million in luxury tax room over the next 2 years to get below the 2d level of CBT. Boston also sending 2 ptbnls and get back a Gage Ziehl, ChiSox #21, and a ptbnl. Ziehl is big, throws multiple pitches, reached AA, and has a long reliever ceiling.

I still would like to see a Ruiz for Yoshida deal if they are looking for cbt room for another hitter.

Nice fit for the Mariners. Good Set of players for the Cards. Bit of an overpay? Looks like the Adam Eaton deal

Second take: I suppose some of the value depends on your opinion of Peete. Speed power swing and miss ... sounds like Green but less extreme. Cintje gives the deal a good chance of paying off for the Cards, and any of the other 4 pieces turns into something then its very good.

Rotation isn't top 5 if they trade Skubal, but if they can either use that money for a MLB quality pitcher (Gallen or Giolito) or get a MLB ready pitcher as part of the return, then the Tigers should do it

so that's $67 million AAV at the top of the rotation.
