Suarez is 3 years older though

ESPN says he's Alonso's replacement at 1B though he's never played there before.

I think they need more punch. They need Bregman or Tucker

They also need pitching. Im thinking Stearns believes you can get a bat at the deadline easier than a rotation piece

Should they be in on Murakami / Okamoto?

Maybe they are committed to Baty at 3rd and Vientos Dh/1b?

Josh Bell to the Twins

1 year / $5.5M plus $250K signing bonus and a $1.25M buyout if they don't pick up a 2nd year.
that one hurts.

0.4 bWAR last year.  Nice guy but please.  He’s not a difference maker.

Considering we're going to pay that to Garcia, I would have rather had Bell

Same bWAR last year. Two bums.  At least Garcia can play the field. Sort of.

compare second half with first half though.

Right now our 1B is Chaparro and our DH is probably Tena.

I'm not sure. DH could be a rotation if the OF has Crews in a corner. Lile and Wood could get a lot of time at DH. Guys like Chappy and Franklin / Young wil get short side of a

And there's always the possibility of Ruiz or Adams. :couch:

Genei Sato is transferring to a college in the US to play in 2027, will be eligible for the 2027 draft at age 22. Throws 99mph.

Both halves count.  At his age he’s more likely to have to first halves like last year.

let's see. we are eligible for a lottery pick again in 2027 after our #11 next draft, so this fits in our "Tank 2026" strategy

FWIW, Zuck had a piece up the other day about how the Nats want to build a presence in Japan, but it's not a high priority right now:

I kind of would like to see the Nats in on the bidding for Okamoto. He could play either corner. He's older (29) than Murakami, but the defensive versatility would be nice. 4/$60 million is the projection. Likely to go elsewhere, but instantly would  help this team vs. lhp with pop on velocity.
