Preseason game 2 was tonight...the Bears look pretty good...and Milano is looking to get that last forward spot on the big club with his play so far...

Leonsis' kid once again using his airwaves to whine about how unfairly someone is treating his greedy family...this time it's YouTube & Hulu "discriminating" against them. Boo-hoo...cry me a river Zach...

The YouTube TV issue isn't unique to Monumental, but the way they ran the banner constantly for the whole game was pretty unusual. USA Network ran a similar streamer across the top of the picture earlier today during the Ryder Cup broadcast.

When I saw that notice last night, I made sure to log into the Monumental app on my iPhone and iPad. A subscription is included if you have Caps season tickets, so I wanted to make sure I had it active. I'm going to have to see whether there is an Apple TV app for their service.

YouTube and Monumental Sports are in a battle over rights fees. Per Greg Finberg:

An e-mail came from YouTube TV today saying Monumental will go dark on their service "starting today," although as of right now it's still there. I kind of assume they mean it will disappear at midnight. That also means anything from Monumental on the cloud DVR will disappear.

There is indeed an Apple TV app for Monumental's streaming service, though, so I set that up this past weekend. I haven't looked to see if there is a similar app for Amazon Fire Sticks.

We don’t have to pay to use the Monumental app. Season-ticket holders get a subscription included in the price. Late in tonight’s game the feed got messed up and I turned it to the app to see whether it was better there. I had trouble finding the game at all. Going to have to open it a bit earlier than I’m used to when a game is coming on. And the problem with the feed happened in the app too, meaning it was the transmission. That particular channel seems to have more broadcast issues than anything else I watch.

Maybe tomorrow against Ottawa we can add #900 to our list of Ovi milestones that we've witnessed in person...

We will be there as well and I admit I selfishly didn’t want him to get #900 last night. Note that tonight will also be his 1500th career game. Talk about an ideal time to hit the goals milestone!

I was at the game last night for the first time in at least 10 years invited by my hockey obsessed grandson. As everyone there, we had hoped to see Ovie score his 900th. I knew the quest has been difficult as he is going through his longest drought without scoring. I really think he misses having Backstrom on the ice with him. He had several good chances and just couldn't find the net.

Friday's game had the smallest crowd I've seen on a weekend since the early naughts. Granted, it was Halloween (kids trick or treating etc) and the gubment shotdown has surely had an impact on discretionary spending in the DMV, but it felt like a Tuesday night against Ottawa, not Friday night vs an old Patrick Division rival.
