Phillies about to wrap up the #2 seed.  Minuscule chance they could get #1.

Looking bad for the Astros.  Feel so bad.  :hysterical:

BoSox clinch a wild card.

Astros eliminated with another loss or wins by both Tigers and Cleveland.

Cleveland has the tie breaker over the Tigers.

I think the Red Sox drop to the 3rd WC if both the Tigers and Guardians win out.

So Astros out as both Cleveland and Detroit win.  Those two could hook up in the wild card round.

Reds winning and if that holds they will remain tied with the Mets and control the wild card.  So down to game 162.  Whoever makes it will visit Dodgers for wild card.  SD and Chicago will hook up the other wild card.  Brewers get the one seed with Phillies loss.

BoSox beat the Tigers so Guardians win the AL Central.

Reds lose, but Mets trail by 4 in the 8th.

NYY beat Os, but Jays are up big late

So division matchups in the AL wild cards.  You know ABC and ESPN wanted the Yanks and Sawx.

Gioltio is out. Dealing with an "elbow issue"

even without being a Sox fan, it's sad to see. He had had a good comeback year, but that elbow has to be toast. I hope it's just being conservative and protecting the player

Cleveland does a pretty good Nats impression.  The baserunning blunder in the 9th was classic.

Per OptaStats: Yankees become the first team in playoff history to load the bases in the ninth inning with no outs, not score a run, and lose the game.

Was interesting bullpen management. Had Crochet not had the easy 7th inning, Cora might have  wanted to let Chapman pitch the 8th and Whitlock the 9th. My speculation, but there were 2 lefties and a righty in the 1st 3 for the 8th while after that there was a bunch of righties - Caballero, Goldschmidt, Judge, and Stanton, with only one lefty (Bellinger). The announcers mentioned frequently the lefties on the bench, especially Rice, but Chisholm was already in the game and retired in the 7th. Not sure who Rice would have hit for in that righty stretch - most likely Goldy? - but it's not like the righties were chopped liver.
