In a season with very bright spots, Beeter's command of the strike zone has been great. The guy really has finger on the pulse and I hope it will serve as a huge comeuppance for the Yankees giving up on him so soon.

Hasn't given up a hit in his last 7 outings (6 innings), but 5 walks.  He walked 3 in an inning against the Yankees.  He and Poulin have been really helpful in stabilizing the 'pen.

He's got good stuff, at least on two pitches.  He may have to work from clean innings because of the walks, but dude's got a better arm than pretty much anyone else in the pen right now.  Potential steal of a trade here.

Good trade. Rosario was a handy IF, but Beeter will be around a while.

Even more so, Rosario was playing above his actual skills and was on a one-year deal.

Beeter got robbed by the ump today, it should have been a 1-2-3 inning, that walk was on a bad call.

Can we change the thread title to include In the Air Tonight? Every adult in the crowd did the air drums to Beeter's walk up song. Could become every bit as iconic as Take On Me and Baby Shark.

Who allowed him to use that song? That song forever belongs to Adam Dunn.

Adam Dunn wasn't close to good enough to get eternal dibs on anything.  He was a great emblem of that era of Nats baseball. Losing player on losing teams who hit some meaningless home runs in 8-1 ballgames and gave no effort at all.  F that guy.

Me too, but A-ha of all bands got us our first division win and Baby Shark brought us a World Series, that drum solo could just be the magic that this team has been missing.

This is some horrible revisionist history of 2009 and 2010. The Nats would usually go up early in those games and have their pitchers blow it after the fifth inning. Zim, Dunn, and Wilingham are still the best 3-4-5 in Nats history.
Also, no one has picked up the joke of the title thread yet, which might be for the best honestly.

Your first sentence spot on. Rest a mess. The Nationals middle of order raked and were not the problem. Dunn at 1B was serviceable.

On subject, Beeter has been a great find. I feel this won’t be forever but enjoying it while it lasts.

I'm sorry, 2017 would like a word. Harper was on his way to another unanimous MVP, Zimmerman was hitting better, and Daniel Murphy was significantly better than Willingham.

Do you think trading Finnigan gave all the bullpen pitchers something they can really shoot for? These guys know that they not only have a chance to lock up a secure spot  and play more. Finnigan was a crutch for them to help cover for them over the years. Their concentration seems to be  is getting better. Some have learned they if they don't throw 100% all the time.  90-95% might give them better control and that stops the excessive walks they were prone to give up.

I'll agree with you, but Harper got his MVP in 2015. That was the Zimmerman renaissance year, however.

The 2019 3-4-5 of Rendon, Soto, Kendrick was also better than the above mentioned guys.

Wasn’t Harper having a big year and then slipped in first base and missed end of season?? I think that’s what he means.

Yep.

Bryce Harper 2015: .330/.460/.649
2017 before his knee injury: .326/.419/.614

Maybe its a bit of revisionist history but I think he beats out Stanton for NL MVP if he's healthy the whole season.

Totally forgot about 2019. I remember that in 2017, Dusty Baker refused to hit Rendon 2nd, and kept him hitting 6th for the majority of the season, despite him hitting .301/.403/.533

Oh I see what you meant now, my bad. I think Stanton still beats him out, but who knows? Didn't Stanton have 60 HR? It would had been close.

In any case, upon more consideration, I think 2019 might be the best.
