so much the logical move. no team, not even the top 3 spenders, would offer this guy arbitration for 2026, and as between 2 guys the Nats aren't going to control next year, keep the one who has been performing better since mid-May.

Not gonna hate on the guy but something wasn't working here for him. To think, when he was in the midst of his hot April and Tristan Casas went down, it would have been a logical move to deal him for a quality guy. By the trade deadline, the one report that the Nats were in talks with the Red Sox aboutt Bell or Lowe was, "huh, why Lowe?"

Aloha Nathaniel. I hope you can correct any damage done to your career by your 2025.

I'm shocked in a good way hey cut the cord.

I ****ing loved this trade last winter. Fist pumps, everything. For it to go this badly had to be an off the field issue of some sort.

wouldn't be half as frustrating if Garcia didn't turn into a stud reliever that his peripherals suggested.

Gee, Finny doing well for the Tigers and talking about their coaching, Garcia turning into a reliable late innings guy, you'd almost think there's a problem with the organization helping guys max their talent. Fedde's 2024, Voth's move to the Os, you might see a pattern.

Hickey absolutely should have been jettisoned. Coles too. Tommy Everidge is a former major league coach for the A's, Narron has been in the dugout before. They should have been given a couple months to see if the problem was just players tuning out coaches or a complete issue with organizational approach.

They're gone after the season.  Mini Me just doesn't want to pay someone else to do their jobs while they're under contract.  DFA'ing Lowe doesn't cost anything.

Yes and if someone claims Lowe Lerner gets to deduct the remaining value of Lowe’s minimal MLB contract with his new team from Lowe’s guaranteed salary.

I just looked at Robert Garcia. He is cruising, so that was a bad trade.

Lowe has an .856 OPS with the Sawx.  A lot can happen when you keep hitters away from Cairo and Coles.

how odd that he returns to closer to his normal levels as soon as he gets away from this staff. Almost as odd as how Kyle Finnegan becomes a strikeout pitcher as soon as he gets away from here and changes his pitching mix.

Small sample sizes are small. Take away his home run game and he has a ~.700 OPS. Willing to re-visit at the end of the season, but so far it seems that home run is the outlier. His average EV rate is the same. His walk rate is about the same. He just seems to be prioritizing contact.  I'm more interested in what happens the rest of the season. I imagine it won't take long for AL teams to brush off the old scouting report.

Small sample size but I would blame Lowe's slump more on him than I would Cairo or Coles. They're not going to rework an experienced veteran's approach. Fact he was let go in August tells me even the new administration was sick of him.

Going to have to disagree with you there. They specifically worked with Josh Bell to re-work his approach to try and get more power. However, he recognized that he was struggling and then went back to his old approach. Since May 1, he has an .838 OPS against RHP.

What is telling to me is that Lowe has been so dreadful on defense. That's not a result of coaches re-working an approach. He's either hurt, or lazy. And not to sound to much like gnats, but his waist looks awfully thick this season ...

The bad D has yet to be apparent for Boston. Lots of talk about how he's an upgrade. Now whether that's wish-influenced based on past rep or whether it's evident is a whole other matter.

1 for his last 11 with a BB and 3Ks, let's give him some time before we consider him fixed.
