2026 MLB Draft
« on: July 31, 2025, 11:07:29 am »
Never too soon.....

https://www.mlb.com/news/early-2026-mock-draft-july-2025

Quote
11. Nationals: Savion Sims, RHP, Edmond Santa Fe (Okla.) HS
There may not be anyone else in this class who throws harder than the 6-foot-8 Sims. He's already touched triple digits with his fastball and has the chance to have a very good slider. He does have a long arm stroke, but he's improved his ability to repeat his delivery and find the strike zone.

Are there only 6 lottery picks this year?
https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-draft-competitive-balance-rounds-set-for-2026.html
I read an Mlb.com article about the pick order. Apparently the Rockies are not lottery eligible because they have gotten lottery picks the past 2 years, and of course the Nats are ineligible because we are payers and hit last year. Does 6 lottery picks plus 3rd worst record mean we get 8th or 9th, or could we slip lower?

White Sox win the lottery and will draft #1. Rays will be at #2, and the Twins at #3.

I hate the lottery. Its stupid. This is baseball, one player doesnt change the fortunes of a team. You could put Ohtani on this team and it would still be under .500.

It’s a deep draft. Should be some good guys at #11. Excited to see how this front office approaches the draft

Yep. The draft usually holds my interest when the Nats suck, but I just sit out the years that we’re artificially pushed down the draft.
