Willits age 20 season will be in 2028, which is where I'd bet he makes his debut, especially if there's a lockout in '27.

IIRC Willits stated goal is a MLB arrival at 19 years which would be 2027. He will turn 20 on Dec 9,2027.

He was quoted at his press conference as saying at 20...

“I set a goal to be in the big leagues by the time I’m 20, and that’s something I’m really excited to do. Hopefully, I get out there and start playing well, and that can be something that I can accomplish in the next few years.”

Only 1 extra base hit so the lack of power is real. Only 17 and with everything else he's doing I'm not sure how much it matters.

he has a 45 power grade on milb.com, it will come around eventually. What he's doing now is pretty spectacular for a 17 year old.

Yes, I know he was gone by the draft but my guess is that decision was made weeks prior to the actual draft.

Meanwhile Ethan Holliday is currently striking out like Elijah Green (38.3%) and only has two extra base hits of his own (no homers). Only 13 games but the dooming that would have happened if the Nats had drafted him instead would have been tough to read.

Not sure about that. Rizzo wasn't one to break with consensus and had no issues signing Boras clients.

Contact skill is showing up. Not too surprised with the low power. That's what every evaluation said. So far, no newly apparent flaws.

He's still 17. He will develop a bit of power. Even if he gets to the 10-15 homer range, he'll still be racking up doubles with his speed.
