Because Loverro is a good sports writer who throws away all objectivity if he has a personal opinion on something. On Sheehan's show, he is great on a lot of topics, but if it's anything Nats or another topic where he mentions up top a personal connection or interaction, it's about to be off of the rails.

Loverro is a clown.

They're gone

Are the Nats better off today than one year ago?

Yes and no.

Yes because player development is better and has been modernized.

No because we have the same fundamental problem we had with Rizzo: Ownership won't invest and doesn't care. Also, somehow we still have the same bullpen problem we had with Rizzo.

Yes...simply being rid of Rizzo and dimwit dave would make any organization better...

Federal Baseball has a nice write up about the change-over. Funny that none of the paid media seems to have noticed that it's been a year.

Don't look now, but...Davey managed a bullpen better than Butera does.

Davey had Finnegan.

Davey had Finnegan.

He also had some common sense, baseball version. Butera manages more like Matt Williams II. Butera seems to stick to his plan, no matter what.

2019 Davey? Or post-2020 Davey? His bullpen management was throwing stuff at the wall before giving the ball to Finnegan who was a reliable, passable closer. Give Butera Finnegan and he'd probably have an easier go of it.

More than just Finnegan. Looking at 2024 and 2023, Rizzo gave Davey much better relievers than this season. So that's on Toboni, as well. However, what I remember was that Davey allowed himself to take out a reliever who was losing an inning, rather than barge ahead as if the game had to follow a schedule.

Rizzo was on the Foul Territory show. In a surprising move he blamed ownership for the team not bringing in the high tech gadgets earlier. Rizzo said that now they are "slowly" catching up. "Slowly", Mike Rizzo said that the Nats are "slowly" catching up. ROTFFL

It was Rizzo’s job to get the technology funded.

Not if ownership won't spend. After Spencer Nusbaum published the story about the Nats not having the trajekt arc, he went on Grant and Danny and confirmed that ownership was loathe to spend the money. This was on the heels of an offseason where Rizzo had a deal with Christian Walker, only to have ownership pull the rug out.

Like he had faults, but wanting to spend money wasn't one of them. Ownership has sabotaged this team for over 5 years

This wouldn't be an better with Rizzo and Davey. You cant win when your ownership group sabotages you
