I'm not sure what you are asking. Rizzo signed the whole roster. He constructed the team that fell into last place just as much as he built the World Series team.

You said they were  spending. I asked who they were spending it on? You clearly wanted Rizzo gone which is fine but expecting Mark to change and spend suddenly is quite laughable. We’re going to get cheap replacements who will probably be instructed to move Gore and Abrams so we can “rebuild”.

I read that contract language stated Davey and likely Rizzo’s 2026 options had a deadline in July to be picked up.  There’s your explanation for the timing.

you may be right. Add in the veto of the Walker signing, and Rizzo may have felt Davey was not to blame for the talent.

There was a theory that Svrluga's unusual turn on the team was coming from ownership, and was sending a public message about how badly Rizzo had done with the dollars he had been given, including the ridiculous Keibert signing.   You knew they hated that, and that all the early season bullpen DFAs didn't go down easily for an ownership group that counts pennies.  Either way, great great news!!!!
