Explains how the Bonilla contract is the best ever.

Quote
“Every Bobby Bonilla Day,” comedian and lifelong Mets fan Jimmy Kimmel wrote in an email to The Washington Post, “my family and I barbecue 1.19 million dollars cash.”

The punch line being that that’s what the Mets did shortly after releasing Bonilla in 1999. Instead of buying out his contract for a $5.9 million lump sum, as was and still is the norm, the team agreed to a deal that would wind up paying him five times as much.

greed hastened the sale of the team. Think the Lerner's would fall for that? There's hope because as WC  Fields once said. "there's a sucker born every minute". Its funny Pittsburg are playing at home now and Mets, Nat's and Phil's games are ppd

Isn’t it also Scherzer day?  Think he gets his annual $15 million deferral today.

The biggest debacle in deferred money is actually the Orioles and Chris Davis. This year Chris got 9.16 million dropping to 3.5 from 2026-2032, then 1.4 per year from 33 till end of contract. That might be why they kept 70% of out tv revenue. THEY HAVE BEEN PAYING BOBBY BONILLA $500k  per year since 2004 till 2029!

Any new owners better check and see what they inherit when they buy a team. A friend just told me Ohtani's kicks in the year b4 Bobby Bo's ends. I think he only took a mil or so a year and deferred the rest for later.
