In 1957, the Nats won 55 games and finished dead last. We did not notice much because Roy Sievers led the league in homers, with 42.

Every time Dan and Frannie talk about Jomes Wood's hitting, I'm reminded of Roy and that season.

Those guys would get obliterated by any AA team

The Bananas are going to be worth more than some MLB teams soon.

depends on the contest. Baseball or dancing? :)

The games are an exhibition, but the players are all high-college or minor leaguers. The quality of the baseball is actually pretty good. Yesterday's game ended when one of the Firefighters tried to advance from first on a throw from the OF to home and got gunned down at 2nd by the catcher. I've seen a few interviews with the players who generally note that they view the games as competitive that they try to win. In that respect they try and differentiate themselves from the Harlem Globetrotters.

you may or may not have seen a 1/2 dozen or more games with their rules, They are in constant motion. Most Mlb players couldn't keep up with those guys. Reminds me of the globe trotters of my youth.

about $1 billion as of April (that's for the whole organization which now has four teams). The Bananas are mostly playing in major league baseball and NFL stadiums, the other teams play minor league venues.

Interesting.  If you remember the '22 team there was nothing pre-trade Soto could do to offset a rotation with a 6 ERA.  Nothing Wood can do about a bullpen with a 6 ERA, nor all the baserunning blunders and bad defense.

$1 billion vs. the Rays going now for $1.7 billion, and that's only going to increase.

I love Jesse Cole's "fan first" philosophy.  Too many MLB owners like John Fisher and Mark Lerner who are "fans last" and focus on politics or pennies, not fan experience.

Funny you say that...I give them another year or two before their act is played out.  I think it's one of those things that you see once and that's enough...

But there may be enough of the kind of people that like professional wrestling and the XFL...or whatever they call it now...to keep it going...

That's it. So, shall we just count Wood's homers? That's what we did, sadly.

Mets keep struggling, fall 12-1 to Dave Parker's former We Are Family team.

There you go.  And Wood's on pace for more than 42.

They are a definite influence to young fans towards our love of baseball. Lot of comparisons between the 2 are like comparing apples to oranges or banana's in this case. Sorry couldn't resist. They play 100 game schedule many in different MLB parks.

Nice bit of commentary for Franny as he argues that Young should be allowed to hit just before Young laces a double down the LF line.

Will be interesting to see what happens after the '26 season with the new CBA.  Don't expect they'll start dancing to YMCA before ABs, but definitely putting pressure on owners who see the full stadiums, and pay close attention to franchise values.

Yea but they are filling up one stadium because it's unique.  Doesn't mean you would fill 15 stadiums night after night.
