What can you say. For decades the Knicks were the most delusional fanbase in all of basketball. No matter how bad the Knicks were, no matter how depressed Spike Lee looked, they insisted that MSG was the "biggest stage in basketball" and that every elite free agent secretly wanted to be a Knick. But they were so bad that not only did free agents go pretty much anywhere else, but even the NBA, which is otherwise obsessed with funneling the best talent to the largest TV markets, gave up entirely on trying to rig it for the Knicks.
But now their delusions have all come true. They ARE the biggest stage in basketball, at least this summer. Not because of a cold envelope, but because of a blue collar team led by a short guy with bad hair.
