They have the second best young player in the league. With the rise of Denver and OKC, they weren’t making it back and now they get to short circuit the worst of a rebuild. The Wizards have been a lottery team most of my life and have never landed anyone as good as the Mavs did by being mediocre for one year

Best young player in the league.  Wemby is vastly overrated, and is a walking injury

Dallas gets a lot of expiring contracts and space to sign players next year. Wiz gave up the OKC #1 this year and the protected Warrior's pick in 2030, so those #1s don't have much value in reality.

For the Wiz's sake, got to hope they can get a full, healthy season out of AD and Trae next year to go along with the kids. If they do, then it's interesting. I'd expect AD to opt out of his player option for 2027-28 if he shows he's healthy for a year.
Youre not getting a healthy season out of AD. Terrible trade

The warriors pick is not actually a pick- with the protections in place, there is almost no chance it conveys. The Wizards can let Davis rest until next season and hope he shows enough to get something better for him - it’s not a huge risk

Its not a risk. A risk implies that the outcome is unknown. The outcome is known. Davis will get hurt. Davis will not have a meaningful impact on any basketball team. This is another pointless trade.

You don’t understand what they’re doing.  They gave up almost nothing and took on the contract in the hope he plays well and they can trade him.

They didn’t give up anything.

And this.

Literally- there probably aren’t available minutes to develop the OKC pick and the golden state pick won’t convey

I see Wiz compium is at an all time high.
Explain the downside of the trade? If he doesn’t play next year you get another high draft pick.

He'll play enough to not get a pick.

Anthony Davis has no value in basketball. That's why he's constantly getting dumped.

Constantly dumped? This is the first time he’s ever been dumped. He’ll have the rest of the year to rest. Either he gets off to a good start next year and gets flipped or he doesn’t and the shut him down before it effects the draft pick

Pelicans dumped him in 2019. Lakers dumped him in 2025. He's on his fourth team in years.

The dude doesn't win crap. He doesn't bring anything to the table to make the team better. He simply accumulates stats and then goes on the injured list.

The pelicans got an enormous return for a star who wanted out. The lakers got Luka

So AD is apparently not happy about being traded to the Wiz. Via WizardsMuse:

Quote
Writer/Broadcaster Chris Mannix on the Wizards/AD Trade:

"I don't think they're going to give him an extension... I've been told he's not loving this"

AD's agent Rich Paul didn't know about the trade beforehand and Davis has changed his IG picture to all black 😬

This years draft is supposed to be very strong so this is the year for another tank. So no worries. I mean are you dumped when you get traded for Luka? He wasn’t dumped by the Pelicans. You’re out of your lane and just making things up now.

That was an NBA collusion, and a Manchurian candidate GM.   Wasn’t a real trade

The athletic reports Davis denied being unhappy and said he had a good visit with the team today. He still wants more insight into their plan to contend next year.

Sarr out at least 2 weeks with a hamstring strain. I can't imagine they will push him to return.

He’ll miss the Rising Stars game. Bub in to replace him.
