Here’s a description of the future picks.  What’s important is that they get a high lottery pick this year.  If they get Dybansta maybe Trae fits in.  If they get one of the guards then have to think he’s gone.  And then Beal = 0.  Which is about right cause he’s terrible now abs out injured for the year.

Did I ever tell y’all I really like Tre Johnson. I like buckets.

They’ll need draft luck to move up. Call me parioid, but we only seem to move up in bad drafts.

...On the flip-side, the Hawks turned Luka Doncic into CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert.

Who are both out injured.

I think Trae Young saw what the Wizards were doing in the last few weeks, and wanted to be part of it.

Or maybe he just wanted to look at the monuments and museums in DC.

Or get interviewed by Rachel Nichols.

ESPN says Young will be reevaluated after the mid-February all star break and won't play until then.

We're back on the losing trail.  Don't blow that.

Watching Boozer and Dybantsa tonight. The latter seems more an NBA guy.

Sarr and George and Johnson will all be playing in the Riskng Stars games all star weekend.

Anthony Davis to the Wizards. Next year will be interesting

Shams:
Quote
BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks are trading 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, Jaden Hardy, D'Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to the Washington Wizards for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, 2 first-round picks and 3 second-rounders, sources tell ESPN.

Dallas gets a lot of expiring contracts and space to sign players next year. Wiz gave up the OKC #1 this year and the protected Warrior's pick in 2030, so those #1s don't have much value in reality.

For the Wiz's sake, got to hope they can get a full, healthy season out of AD and Trae next year to go along with the kids. If they do, then it's interesting. I'd expect AD to opt out of his player option for 2027-28 if he shows he's healthy for a year.

Dallas ends up with not much of anything out of the Luka trade now, but yeah, they do get some cap space to play with next season.

Wiz could have a stellar defensive front court next year Sarr, Davis, Coulibaly to go along with an awful defensive back court led by Young. This probably at least gets them into the playoffs if everyone is healthy. And they still have a top-5 pick, plus they still have a bunch of draft swaps.

Mostly impressed many how the front office keeps a lid on any potential rumors. There was nothing in the media about this before it happened.

I guess you roll with Trae and AD next year and see what happens.  Maybe add LeBron?

CBS Sports gives the Wizards an A+ and the Mavericks an F.

https://x.com/CBSSports/status/2019128627011408350?s=20

Mavs total haul for Luka (if you cancel the other players they swapped today):
Max Christie
2029 Lakers first-round pick
2026 Thunder pick (30th)
2030 Warriors first (if 21-30)
3 second round picks

ESPN gave Dallas a B and Wiz a C.  Since they usually are off base that sounds good.

I think the Mavericks did a good job clearing space to rebuild around Flagg. But it's still hard to overcome the fact that the Luka trade was among the worst ever. ESPN noted that their grade excluded the F grade they gave Dallas in the Luka trade.

He’s a good player but they need more.  They’re sitting 7th in the draft odds.  Maybe they will luck into another top pick.

The Mavs also don't have a 2027 first round pick unless it is 1 or 2.

Opting out will cost him millions on the extension. It’s in everyone’s interest for him to get traded to a team willing to extend him

With hindsight,  Luka trade is great. Right now, Flagg already has more trade value than Luka

true. You can get more in an extension than as a fa in the nba

They were in the Finals a couple years ago.  Now they’re near the bottom.

They have the second best young player in the league. With the rise of Denver and OKC, they weren’t making it back and now they get to short circuit the worst of a rebuild. The Wizards have been a lottery team most of my life and have never landed anyone as good as the Mavs did by being mediocre for one year

It already worked. Landing a player like Flagg is the whole point of a tank.
