The team average OPS in Major League Baseball for the 2025 season was .719.

.240 / .310 / .430 / .740 would seem to be a low bar for an every-day corner infield position player.  Even CJ posted better numbers than that last year...though he was lacking that good D you mentioned.

above average, as you point out. It  can play every day.  Probably want a little more from a corner IF.

Actually, for 3rd basemen in  2025, the average line was .242 / .305 / ,391, or a .696 OPA. .740  can do.

If you want to limit it just to primary 3rd basemen, there were 18 qualified 3rd basemen, and .740 would have slotted in 10th.

League average 3B was a .696 OPS.  CJ hit .245/.300/.412 his first full season in the big leagues. A .740 OPS is a massive improvement and puts him in the top 10 of qualified third basemen.

Each position locked down by an internally-developed average player (or one acquired in trade) is both a step to respectability and narrows down the amount of positions we must reach to fill with a FA. House hitting something like .240 / .310 / .430 with good D would be fine. Add 15 points to that OBP and SLG (a level he hit in AA and AAA) and he'll be a plus.
In his prime with good defender, that would be very good.

This year? A mid-.650 OPS would be a big improvement to applaud!

He k'd 9 times in his 27 PAs, with zero BBs. That .440 is 11 for 25. 7 xbh out of those 11 hits. Add a SF to get an obp lower than his average. With 3 HRs and 9 Ks, that's 8 for 15 on balls in.play.

Hot, but that BABIP can't last

Yeah, the K/BB ratio is often a good predictor of future on base.  With the new coaches or something in the water even Keibert's walking, they might be leaving Brady alone for now because he's hitting, but if this were regular season it would say a slump is coming.
