Nationals @ Diamondbacks, Game 3
« on: June 01, 2025, 03:30:36 pm »

Washington Nationals @ Arizona Diamondbacks
Where: Chase Field
When: June 1, 2025, 4:10 PM
Weather: irrelevant
TV: MASN2, Dbacks.TV
Radio: 106.7 FM
MLB Gameday: https://www.mlb.com/gameday/777679

Pitching Match-Up:

Mitchell Parker, LHP
4-4, 4.65 ERA, 4.29 FIP, 1.333 WHIP, 6.0 K/9
     vs.
Corbin Burnes, RHP
3-2, 2.72 ERA, 4.11 FIP, 1.173 WHIP, 8.6 K/9

Batting Line-Ups:

Washington Nationals

1. CJ Abrams (L) SS
2. James Wood (L) LF
3. Nathaniel Lowe (L) 1B
4. Luis García Jr. (L) 2B
5. Josh Bell (S) DH
6. Robert Hassell III (L) CF
7. Keibert Ruiz (S) C
8. José Tena (L) 3B
9. Daylen Lile (L) RF

               Arizona Diamondbacks

1. Ketel Marte (S) DH
2. Geraldo Perdomo (S) SS
3. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (R) LF
4. Eugenio Suárez (R) 3B
5. Josh Naylor (L) 1B
6. Randal Grichuk (R) RF
7. Ildemaro Vargas (S) 2B
8. Tim Tawa (R) CF
9. Jose Herrera (S) C

This will be Ildemaro Vargas' 3rd stint with Arizona, where he started his career and spent all or part of 5 seasons. He's had more PAs as a Nat than with any other club, though.

With a LHP on the mound for the Nationals, the Arizona line-up has been moved around, with Naylor the only pure lefty hitter.

The Nats scored 4 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks in 5 innings against Burnes the last time they met, on April 6, so it's possible to get to him. Though that was arguably his worst start of the season.

Does this guy throw anything low that doesn't drop out of the zone?

Wow, nice 1st inning by Burnes. Wish we would've signed him this past Winter.

In any case, go Nats! In Mitchell we trust 🙏

Forgive my ignorance but why are the boys wearing a "4" patch on the front of their jerseys today?

That's the free swinging Vargas I remember. Parker needed that.
