Nationals @ Diamondbacks, Game 2
« on: May 31, 2025, 09:52:12 pm »

Washington Nationals @ Arizona Diamondbacks
Where: Chase Field
When: May 31, 2025, 10:10 PM
Weather: irrelevant
TV: MASN2, Dbacks.TV
Radio: 106.7 FM
MLB Gameday: https://www.mlb.com/gameday/777696

Pitching Match-Up:

Michael Soroka, RHP
1-3, 5.61 ERA, 4.48 FIP, 1.208 WHIP, 8.8 K/9
     vs.
Brandon Pfaadt, RHP
7-3, 3.90 ERA, 4.93 FIP, 1.219 WHIP, 7.1 K/9

Batting Line-Ups:

Washington Nationals

1. CJ Abrams (L) SS
2. James Wood (L) LF
3. Nathaniel Lowe (L) 1B
4. Luis García Jr. (L) 2B
5. Josh Bell (S) DH
6. Robert Hassell III (L) CF
7. Keibert Ruiz (S) C
8. José Tena (L) 3B
9. Daylen Lile (L) RF

               Arizona Diamondbacks

1. Corbin Carroll (L) RF
2. Ketel Marte (S) 2B
3. Geraldo Perdomo (S) SS
4. Josh Naylor (L) 1B
5. Eugenio Suárez (R) 3B
6. Pavin Smith (L) DH
7. Gabriel Moreno (R) C
8. Randal Grichuk (R) LF
9. Alek Thomas (L) CF

Washington's lineup is the same as last night, except that Ruiz back as catcher, though that means the lineup is entirely left or switch-hitting. Arizona's lineup is the same as last night, except Gurriel is replaced by Grichuk, with Smith and Moreno moving up one spot each in the batting order.

What does it mean that Soroka's FIP is one run lower than his ERA, while Pfaadt's is one run higher than his ERA?

According to Rotowire, "WSH is is the underdog. They have a 37.4% chance to win."

Ruiz back at 7th is a change from earlier in the trip. We were talking about the need to do this in the Ruiz thread today.

Only question is whether it's about Ruiz in particular or just keeping the same line-up as last night with him in place of Adams.

3 singles start things off. Leads to a lowe rbi. Then Carroll misses a LGJr. liner to knock in 2 more.

3-0

A lead!
