I don't know, but there's 3 long time federal holidays in the baseball season, memorial day, 7/4, and labor day, plus now Juneteenth. We always have a home game on 7/4. Maybe teams get one of the 3 off, so it's 50/50 on memorial day or labor day.

I think it's just because it's a long western travel day today.  They played in Atlanta last Memorial Day...
