bold but maybe there right answer. I think he can play left but this is may be the playing time solution. I think Blue911 pointed out outfield to 1st conversions usually don't work defensively. However, this could upgrade the OF d and it's not like Lowe's been great on d this year, either.
Adam Dunn started out in LF. Wood will be fine

Franklin talk is wild.  Send Lile down, start Barrels and Crews everyday

Start Bobby B in CF. Crews in RF. Lile rotates through RF, LF, and DH. Yes, Lile has been out-hitting Wood.

Would love to see what this guy can do with a decent hitting coach.

Liking him. Holding his own at the plate in his rookie season.

Maybe our soon to be DH if they insist on Wood staying in LF with Young as our 4th OF

among the things I like  about him is he's been viewed with skepticism all the way up. It's nice to see someone who wasn't overhyped become a contributor. One of the nice things about Young is he fit that at the time of his callup. Hope it works for longer than it did for Young.

He is hitting, but zero power and horrific defense.  Can’t have a RF with those two traits

We won a World Series with a guy like that in RF.

Didn’t Eaton hit 15 HR’s and played above average D?

.428 slugging (with a juiced baseball) and -3 DRS; -5 OAA

Eaton was never the same after his injury.

My point is, we need offense and Lile has hit nicely the second half. The Brewers are doing quite well with an OF and DH that is putting up 115-120 wRC+.

past 3 weeks or so (7/25 Minnesota series), his ISO is .145 on top of a .339 average making a .484 SLG. That SLG would be 14th for the 2025 season among the 59 qualified MLB outfielders. The ISO is nothing special but is in Jung Hoo Lee range (48th).

Certainly can say it's a small sample and nothing he's done in the minors prior to the year suggests he'll maintain this for a season. It's fair to say it's doubtful the organization has a stud DH going forward in Lile, but for an admittedly-short stretch, his lack of power isn't making his bat unproductive.

Exchange with Eric Longenhagen about Lile on his FG chat:

Complements to you on your evaluation of Daylen Lile. So far, he looks not overwhelmed and useful. I think you've had him higher as a 45 than other raters, and you look vindicated. Given the opening created by the Lowe DFA, Lile should get playing time. As for his performance so far, his K% and the combo of below average (slightly) O-swing and above average Z-swing doesn't look like he's killing himself with chasing, which was one of your worries. high contact when he swings. Question is, have you seen anything so far in the majors to make you think he'll stick as perhaps a DH?

I think you try like hell to let him develop into a passable OF during this window of building.

This tracks with what Cairo was saying in that the Nats still plan to try him in the OF mix. Figuring Crews plays against most every game, and Bobby Barrels hits lefty, my best guess is there will be time in LF, maybe with Wood DH'ing against some righties. I think Wood is the better OF, but maybe the Nats don't see him there permanently so will give Lile and eventually Franklin some looks.

Hes athletic enough to play. Not sure if he'll ever be anything more than defensively average

For all the talk about his lack of power, he has the 3rd highest slugging percentage on the team and is 5th in doubles and 1st in triples. Granted, this is a team that sucks at power, but he's still getting extra base hits they're just not leaving the park. You can be a respectable lineup presence as a doubles/triples hitter.
