It seems simple enough to me.  Thank them both for the 2019 WS and their contributions to the organization.  Put them in the Ring of Fame, but Good Lord please get rid of them so we can move forward with a new approach.

eh, he had some decent contact today. The ball off the wall in right field foul territory was a smash (foul) and he had a double, but he's 1 hit in 12 PAs with 4Ks & 1 BB since he came off his last injury / benching. I'd say he looks lame. Is that enough to go on the IL?

Past 3 weeks he's been especially awful. 50 PAs, 6 hits, 2HR, 2 BBs, 15 Ks.  OF the 31 times he's made contact in that stretch excluding today, 14 have been hit hard but only 2 have been barreled (his homers).

This. It’s not complicated. House isn’t ready and Tena is not a proven commodity at this point. Lile is not primed for prime time yet. Stop fantasizing and throwing names out.

I strongly believe that it’s too early to resign wood to dh for the rest of his career. We need to get rid of bell. That opens up the door for wood, crews, Lile, and call to rotate between OF and DH.

I really think wood needs to be told at the end of this season to start practicing with a 1B mitt for next year. He’d be a massive target for infielders to throw too, if he has to dive for a ball, he’d cover the gap between him and the 2B with a step and a dive, and he’s got the athleticism.

It's clear that the Nationals will not contend in 2025, thus the purpose of this season is to develop the next generation of Nationals talent and trade off veterans for whatever can be obtained.

As such I would leave Crews in the majors to figure it would and I would call up House to see what he's got. To the extent it does not prevent the development of Abrams/Wood/Crews/House, I would play veterans in the hopes that they will go on a hot streak in July and can be traded off for lotto tickets.

Then I would sign an elite hitter and an elite pitcher as FAs in the offseason.

Anything else is deck chairs, Titanic, etc.

I think the next move is Bell released and House up for 3rd base. They have to know if that 3rd base spot is a hole or it's filled.

On the bright side, I think Ruiz is showing enough that a replacement C isn't needed. If House shows something from June -> September, and Crews figures things out, there's no screaming hole in the lineup. One or maybe two bats would be it.

I suspect that Wood gets most of the play in left at least through July. If he fails, then Lowe could be dealt in a deadline deal or in the offseason to make room at 1st. I'm not super confident that Wood is quick enough to be a plus 1st baseman. He has terrific speed, but there's a difference between speed and quickness.

Lowe is one of the few rentals with any trade value, and we know how Rizzo thinks deadline trades are essential to get the AAAA players and lottery tickets he craves.  I'd be surprised if Lowe and Finnegan were still here in August, especially with no tradable middle relievers with contracts above $1 million.   Soroka will also be gone if he plays half decently and some team is willing to overlook his injury history.

If Rizzo somehow is forced to DFA or release Bell, that's $10.5 million of the already low offseason budget cut from the team.  Can't see him doing that right now given the politics of how Mini Me would react, but we can hope.

The Nats are responsible for the whole amount less what any team pays them if they are pocked up. I could see Bell receiving a minimum contract from  one of the other dumpster diver  teams.
