AJ Hinch watched the World Series clang off the foul pole with Gerrit Cole standing in the bullpen.  Martinez was easily the better manager that series.

Matt Williams flushed a 96-win team out of the playoffs by himself and then ruined the next season with his personality.

You could do a lot worse than Martinez with a talented roster.

If Trent Gresham...a defensive replacement...doesn't f'up Soto's single...Martinez likely doesn't even have a playoff series win in his 7+ years here...talent or not...much less a World Series title...and he's likely 2 and done like his predecessors.

Matt Williams sucked and had a crappy personality.  Pulling Zimmermann with 2 out in the 9th in 2014 was a boneheaded Standard Decision move and an even lamer explanation.  Martinez sucks but has a good personality.  That's the extent of the difference as far as I'm concerned, although his "How do you like me now" bullcrap really pissed me off...and I still don't like him.  I think he's a dimwit...and fans deserve better.

For the record, I've hated having Martinez as our manager since his day 1.  Rusty should never have been let go...and I believe we'd have multiple WS trophies if he'd have been brought back...

As they say...YMMV...

Martinez out-managed Dave Roberts too in 2019.

Last season's 17-0 loss to the Diamondbacks was probably worse.

No...that happened prior to the 2018 season when they hired dave...

Call me superstitious but I still think that the baseball Gods chose him to lead the 2019 team to the WS. It wouldn't have had worked with any other manager IMO, he was at the right place at the right time.
