Well yeah because he was a highly rated prospect. But I don’t see much difference between them so far.
For age equivalency, when Young was Hassell's age he was in AA. He did move fast after that, but he was still 3 months short of his first MLB action. It's a bit hard to compare the two, though: Young had 3 years of the SEC, whereas Hassell had Tennessee high school plus a missed COVID half-season and the post-COVID garbage low minors.
The org - and to be fair, the rest of the league - is going to need to confront the fact that they created a player development problem by eliminating non-Complex rookie leagues. Low-A is barely professional baseball now. It's basically the same as what the Appy League used to be. You have guys there who wouldn't get playing time at a decent college program. The level has been dragged down so far that it's not really possible to meaningfully develop guys below A+.
And Hassell was thrown into A+ because of this, and he's mostly struggled since. There's a level missing, and it's killing a lot of the HS guys.
