4th 100 loss season of the Lerner era is in sight.
It would seem to be all but certain...
I noted in the OC post after Saturday's win that the 3 times we've had a worse record after 98 games (now 99), the Nats finished with the worst record in MLB.
41-61 (.402) and on pace for a 65-97 season
I think we can make 100.
if we keep playing .500 ball we're 71-91
Keep playing?
3-3 since the ASB
You are King of the SSS. SunShine Squad. And Small Sample Size!
All we gotta do is finish out 38-19 and I'm validated.
Would this type of finish even be desirable at this point?
2/3 point in the season. 20 under. Be interesting if they tail or rally in the last 1/3. After 54, the Nats were 24-30, or a 72 win pace. 2nd third the Nats were 20-34.
Sinking. Nats will win 60-65 games. They play like the 1961-64 teams, although Gil Hodges ("Off The Floor in '64!") drew some spirit out of the team. Starting here: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/WSA/1961.shtmlAlthough the expansion team, typically called the New Senators, selected tired veterans, who played like each season would be their last...
2006 might be the benchmark. 65-97.
