Small sample size. You are emulating MASN drop downs trying to make a pigs ear into a purse by highlighting a recent positive success.
don't your eyes tell you they are performing much better the past month or so than any other stretch this year? Ferrer hasn't gotten lit up after his first appearance in August. He's always had good stuff and has harnessed it. Henry, Beeter, and Poulin have pitched well enough to have a respectable set up group.

I don't think anyone is confident the bullpen is solved for the next few years, but there's reasons to like what we're seeing.

The fact that we have a ton of guys with options and team control is another reason to like the structure of the group. If guys blow up now, they can be moved out and not lost. No reason to hold off and hope they turn around like so many of the vet arms we've dfa"d over the recent years.

3 weeks is a small sample size. Yes they are not a clusterf..k like the 4 previous months. Remember when we were all on Bell until his hot streak. Then he cooled off or reverted to his 3 month swoon. As someone mentioned the only bright spots of this season are Lord and Lille.

If the bullpen was just one pitcher, then this might be a small sample size. However, the improvement has come from six or seven different guys: Ferrer, Henry, Poulin, Beeter, Pilkington, Ogasawara, Rutledge.

Would like to see Thompson get some more opportunities in high pressure situations to see if he can be an option next year too.

Rutledge has now gone 10 straight appearances without giving up a run. One in his last 13.

Ferrer and Henry aren't bright spots?

Ferrer yes, Henry no. He has a 5.21 FIP and a still unimpressive 4.42 xERA. Average K rate and a high BB rate. Not saying he shouldn't be tried as a potential piece again next year but I've been pretty disappointed in Henry's season.

4.06 FIP since 8/1, still issuing too many walks but he's heading in the right direction. Has only allowed runs in 2 of his last 13 appearances.

Giving up that dinger in the 8th says NO!

MASN is reporting that some sort of change occurred recently that led to improvements in the bullpen.

makes it sound like all it was was collectively deciding to pitch better.  What an insight!

Actually, Ferrer does say that  bringing in Luis Garcia the reliever helped his head quite a bit.

Yea, nothing mechanical. Just head stuff.

For Poulin and Beeter, a chance to actually play would certainly be motivational.

The Nationals are moving Mitchell Parker to the bullpen, at least until the end of this season.

We’ll talk to Miguel Cairo about it in a bit, but Parker said he understands the decision and will learn on the fly.

Mason Thompson is hopeless. Maybe next year...

Dump him and Ogasawa and the new Dodger reject. You have Irvin and Parker to take their place until they are dumped next season.
