In any case, in 40 years of combined ownership of the Wizards and Caps his teams have made the semi-finals once. I don't get how anyone would think that he'd be an upgrade.

I am not a huge Leonsis fan but I think he’s been a solid, not great, Caps owner and the Wizards are just a mess but I’m not sure how much is exactly his fault.

Right now, I really want an ownership that wants to be owners. Lerners deciding to start looking for stadium sponsors around same time period they crapcanned Rizzo gives me a bit of hope they solved whatever internal family tension they had and may be deciding they want to engage again. Whether or not that’s true will probably be answered within next 6 months with new hires and going into spring training. On other hand Leonsis would at least want to be the owner.

But I also admit some worry about him having three teams in one market. I can’t imagine the synergies would be beneficial to the fans. I have to think MLB may be spooked.

He’s owned the Wizards for long enough that it’s his fault. He’s given out terrible contracts, held on to executives and players for too long, allowed draft picks to be traded away for middling players, not taken on enough salary to get good picks attached when trading for bad contracts... It’s a toss up between Washington and Charlotte for the biggest joke in the NBA and Washington is probably in the lead

Current ownership has never put together a .500 team.
