He is not good in LF as I stated early on last year when he fist came up. His offensive skills overrode his defensive liabilities and were probably never addressed by his coaches in college or the minors. He should be considered a candidate for 1B or DH as Morales has shown nothing to date.
If the Nationals were contending, I'd agree. Best case this year we go a bit over .500 and sneak into the playoffs, at which point I see no pitcher on this roster outside perhaps Gore I'd be confident in for a must win.

Give him another season in LF. Reevaluate next winter. If he can be an average LF and keep open DH, we're much better off than the alternative.

Performance of Hassell and Young will pay into this equation.

I would happy with close to an 81 win season. I'm not sure he has the ability to become an average LF as I didn't think he was aggressive enough in his approach. My original post in this thread did not mention that BB could be this ST's Lipscomb. My thought process also factored in that LaViolette would be our selection in the draft thus giving us at some point in 2026 an OF of Crews, Hassell and LaViolette all who can play CF. Wood isn't in the same class as them or even close. Then we have Lile. Pickney , White and Young as the possible 4th OF.

I must have put the curse on Wood as he commits an error in LF and lets 2 runs score. He has a lackadaisical approach to fielding the easiest OF position.

He’s no Schwarber. Or maybe he is.

Hassell starts the season in Rochester, but the Nats will bring him up in June. And we can worry about Call and Garrett then.
