Interesting, I wonder if we would've cracked the 1.5M mark without those crappy concerts

I also think that retro bobblehead night pulled in a few people who would rather watch a plastic Jayson Werth than the actual players on the team now.

How many concerts have there been that would account for 500,000 extra people in a stadium that draws about 20 K on its own?

You got me there, I guess I didn't have my coffee in time yesterday morning lol.

With the way the team's been playing this year, can you blame 'em?

Thank the concerts and visiting team fans...

I think there's another factor - there are a lot of new condos or apartments going up all around the park.  I know one person who specifically targeted the 'hood to be able to walk to games.  I bet they are going to be gradually pulling in some of those folks, as well as those who want to hang out before or after the game at the many drinking & eating establishments nearby.

Result is that I think the attendance floor is on a positive, if subtle, improvement trend.

After spotting many yellow and brown jerseys at Nats Park yesterday, Padres announcers commented on how well the team's fans were traveling.

dc is a destination and it's easier to get seats than some of the other destination cities. Otoh, Nats Park is on no one's bucket list except maybe some declining players

Doesn’t seem too full. Saw a lot of folks leaving due to the delay

I was pretty surprised. I think the $5 concessions really bring people out to those Tuesday games. At times the lines to get a $5 beer or hot dog were really long. They were also giving out free pairs of tickets to military and DOD since it was Space Force Night, which may have also boosted attendance.

most evening games that i attend are filled with 20-somethings who go for about 6 innings and then hit the Navy Yard area bars. After game lines for the bar near the Hampton Inn always wrap around the block. The bullpen, mission, and the place across from mission are always packed. The ballpark has become a destination for locals, which is good for attendance. If they had built the ballpark out in Virginia or another suburb I imagine it would be a ghost town right now.

Lucky for them a decent team isn’t a requirement for acceptable attendance

O's are 23rd with a 22,807 per game average...about 90-ish% of the Nats average...
