Used to be I hated garbage time wins between two teams out of contention, I thought they gave the impression that we were getting better. But I don't think there's any risk of that right now so I'm enjoying the victories.

Like the '09 Nats who won their last 7 and finished 59-103.  Things didn't really turn around until '11.

2010 Nats started 13-10 and were at a scrappy 26-26 before a missed Berkman check swing call derailed what I can only assume was a World Series-bound season

You're over analyzing it.  Wins good, losses bad.  Wins happy, losses sad.

Well, here it is, we're both wrong, false hope has emerged, wins = bad.

For a team and a city looking for reasons to believe, this September surge is more than just a string of victories; it’s a sign that the future might be arriving ahead of schedule.

Um yeah. This was supposed to be the year that the team took a step toward contention. If this was happening in May I'd be lot more excited.

District on Deck is essentially an outsourced Nats PR department.  Content is unreadable.

Isn't that typical of all fan blogs? They've been pretty good lately.

after Friday  8/8, the Nats  were 45-70. They have gone 16-16 since. That even includes an 8 game losing streak. They are 5 under since the trade deadline  (17-22).

bullpen has been much better. Starting pitching has had some decent moments. And Bell and Lile are carrying the offense.

Wood has been good the 60% of the time he's not striking out. Something like a 134 wRC+ including the ks. That's 49th out of 174 qualified hitters in MLB

The best Nats seasons come every seven years: 2005, 2012, and then 2019. Next year is lucky number seven.

I'm gonna clean up with a Nats World Series bet next year. Thank you.

I'd stick with an 81 game win total if we're resetting at 2005, which I think would be very well received (assuming we don't start 50-31 and then fall apart).

At this point, rays of sunshine can be found in individual performances. Gore had a good start. We can hope he takes his regular turn the rest of the season. Bullpen looked good except for the cannon fodder of Thompson and Shinno. Crews is starting to have hits fall in. Lile.
