If you convince yourself Crews and House are the real deal, you don't have to work to hard to figure out how next season could be a fun one. But I'm not going to try to guess without knowing who is running things.

Well, this is the Sunshine Squad, old friend. So far, Crews looks like he has come back as a pretty good ballplayer. And House is not bad, either. He fields and he is learning to hit major league pitching. House is only 22, and I remember another Nats 3B who was signed at seventeen and bounced back to the minors every season until he was 23. That guy did so well that he's in the Hall of Fame. Of course, House probably does not have the power that Harmon had, but Killebrew never learned to field.

This year's 2nd round pick Ethan Petry (college guy) is tearing it up with the Fred Nats.  1.068 OPS in 45 PAs.  Showing signs of the high OBP approach he had in the SEC with a 16% walk rate.  Could be in Harrisburg by June of next year, and would be a major addition to this free swinging offense.

1st round pick Eli Willits was 3 for 4 with a walk in his Fred Nats debut last night.

Crews starts every game in RF. Hassell should be CF, and Young, at most, a RH platoon. Wood and Lile share LF and DH. Bell/Chappy 1b, DeJong 2B, CJ and House. Adams and Millas should share the catching almost equally.

Garcia to the bench, since he is a mediocre fielder and DeJong out-hits him.

Next season? Re-sign Bell and DeJong. In Spring Training, let Franklin fight for a place. Look for a kid who wants to play hard at 2B, with Dejong as the utility guy, Could Tena field second?

Find the next Anibal for the rotation, as Parker either goes to the bullpen or gor to Rochester to work on whatever ails him. Susana starts the season in Rochester, with Bennett moving up doon. Let Clemmy settle into Harrisburg and, with improve, emt, move to Rochester in the second half. And hope that one of them can replace Irvin.

The reliever have looked better lately. Add some depth.

If the Lerners let the new GM clear out the clunkers from the coaching staffs, then the Nats could be watchable in '26.

Do not resign DeJong

I can't stand Garcia at 2B. DeJong will be a decent utility backup. Garcia is a weak 2B, which is the only position he can play.

Hopefully J. Gray is in the mix for 4/5 spot.  Can't count on it, but hopefully

Lile has the highest xBA of any of the 49 qualified rookies in MLB (.295).

Nats have 2 of the top 10 qualified rookies in xwOBA (Lile .331 and Crews .326).

and I have a Kyle Finnegan xWing fighter pilot bobblehead. Next time you go to a game, bring your fighter and I'll bring the pilot. We can pour beer over the two and see how a drunk x-wing pilot flies.

Since 8/9, the Nats are 11-13, even with an 8 game losing streak. Maybe The Kids Are Alright?

Same win percentage as the Phillies in games where they outscore the other team.

According to ChatGPT, and assuming a 50% probability of winning each game, the Nats have a one in 206 million chance of at least tying the Mets.   So, it's saying there's a chance!

6-1 start to September. I wonder if the Nats have ever started a month 7-0? Might be tied for the best record for the first seven games of a month in team history.

If the Giants hold on here, just 2 back of the Mets for last wc spot.

Nats sunshine: winning + Mets losing streak is preventing the tragic number from dropping.

Used to be I hated garbage time wins between two teams out of contention, I thought they gave the impression that we were getting better. But I don't think there's any risk of that right now so I'm enjoying the victories.

I've always enjoyed a few wins over a few losses, but I agree with this season I am especially enjoying a late boost. Everyone knows this is a dumpster fire, the GM and manager have been canned, massive change is coming.
