8/23.

It's just a bit funny from the tone here sometimes that they had a successful month. The 7-loss streak I think  soured a lot of people.

He's an ace.

One reason I think the Nats should not sell at deadline is, is if we got hot and clawed into the last spot, I think Mackenzie Gore could steal a game. Do that and anything is possible.

Next year’s rotation: Gore, Cavalli, Gray, Irvin, Parker with Sykora just about ready.

Someone will get injured but Lord can take their place.  Either way, keep Rizzo away from Mini Me’s checkbook.  Couldn’t do worse with the limited Lernerbucks ownership gives him to spend.  Sunshine: they can win 71 next year while spending a lot less.

We are fourth in expected batting average and we are 12th in expected slugging, and 10th in XOBA. We're getting unlucky and some of that should bounce back in the second half.

The Marlins have given up about 50% more runs than the Mets, the Rockies about twice as many.  The next week is a big breakout opportunity for the team's bats.

Reasons to be optimistic:

1. The rebuild is almost complete
2. Dylan Crews has been hurt
3. Brady House has arrived
4. Nobody should expect Wood, Crews, House to be superstars from day one (though Wood is getting there)
5. Abrams is hitting again (.280 / .741 OPS in June)
6. Gore is a stud
7. Cavalli is on his way
8. Soroka isn't far behind
9. We can move Lord into the rotation
10. Law and Thompson will be back soon.

By August 1:
1. Abrams
2. Wood
3. Crews
4. House
5. Chaparro
6. Lowe
7. Garcia
8. Ruiz
9. Young/Lile/Hassell

Rotation: Gore, Irvin, Parker, Cavalli, Lord

I know this is the Sunshine thread, but I wouldn't be so sure about your first bullet point... seems like this "rebuild" will last a few more years via a "rebuild of the rebuild".

Agree, this team is on pace for, how do I say it in Sunshine terms, a not so rebuilt -160 run differentlal, which would be the cloudiest run differential since '22.  Sunshine: Wood and House are on track.

If the Rays sell for $1.7 billion, that gives the Lerners a much better comp than the Orioles sale due to the ballpark and persistent attendance issues there.  Makes it much easier for them to ask for $2.5 billion+.  Literal sunshine coming off the Rays logo to the hope for new Nats owners.

On pace to pick 10th or 11th, depending on Colorado. That's why the Lerner's should have let Rizzo spend this past offseason.

They’re 14 games ahead of Colorado.  They will probably pick 11th.
