Nats could have swapped Kieboom for Rendon, with the Angels picking up Rendon's remaining salary. Rendon was so good in Washington...

My misread, 58 games was the max he's played in a season (2021)

2020 (LAA): 52
2021 (LAA):  58
2022 (LAA): 47
2023 (LAA): 43
2024 (LAA): 57
2025 (LAA): ?
2020 was close to 90% of the season.

Between the two, baseball's Black Monday
That hater website says he's played in 257 games over his 5 years there...and without much success even when in the lineup...

So how many games has St. Stephen played in for us over the past 5 seasons?  Eight (8)

This was the latest I could find on Finnegan.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/01/kyle-finnegan-rumors-free-agent-closer-market-picking-up.html
there was a report the other day that he's looking for a contract around his arbitration number of $9 million or so.

The link says probably below that for one year.  Or two years maybe at an even lower value he might accept.

I’m looking for Jessica Alba now that she’s getting divorced.

Just getting the season ending injury out of the way early

one of the great hater websites https://anthonyrendonthefttracker.com/

Early season surgery is a nice way to basically say it's over.  Doubt he takes another MLB AB, and definitely not with the Angels.

They pretty much tipped their hand on the Rendon situation with the Moncada deal

From The Athletic, in an article about which teams, GMs, or core groups of players are under the most pressure this season.

Quote
BRYCE HARPER, TREA TURNER AND THE PHILLIES’ CORE (7 VOTES): We introduced a new question in our survey this year: Which rosters — or core groups — are under the most pressure? The results were fascinating.

The Blue Jays players (nine votes) won that one, too. But right behind them were the Phillies. It’s not hard to see why.

They’re rocking the third-highest payroll in baseball. They’re coming off two straight postseason train wrecks. Yet for the second straight winter, their legendary team-builder, Dave Dombrowski, has doubled down on a roster built to win. So if this core group wants to stay together, it needs to win together.

“They’re getting older,” said one voter. “Their core group of players is starting to age. (Kyle) Schwarber and (J.T.) Realmuto are free agents at the end of the year. I just feel a sense of urgency in a very difficult division.”

The Phillies have to win a World Series or that core is going to age like sour milk next few seasons.

They’ve had three straight playoff years and one World Series appearance.  And likely to be competitive for 2-3 more years. This is the kind of thing fans of losing teams say to make themselves feel better. Hey in five years the Phillies might finish last so we can hold onto fourth place even when the Marlins get better.  Also the luxury tax line is going up and they have an owner willing to spend. It’s better to be in that position even with soem aging contracts rather than have miserly owners.

They have a higher ranked farm system now too. It's a mistake to wait for the NL East to get less competitive.

If there are three teams that are reliably competent, it’s a great excuse for a team that never wants to spend

My memories of the 2010's would be very different if Game 7 in the World Series ended up in a loss and all we had for our playoff memories were brutal playoff losses.

Well sure but the Nats didn’t win a series until 2019. The Phillies upset the Braves two years in a row (over which the Braves wee a combined 30 games better during the season) and won five series over two years. Playoff runs are fun even if you don’t win it all.  Last year was crushing because they were the 2012/14/16/17 Nats.

Are the Commanders a failure if they don’t win a Super Bowl in the best few years. Was this year a failure since they didn’t win it all.

Nah the ride is still enjoyable including meaningful regular season games. Remember those?  Pepperidge Farm remembers.
