Saw Max Weinberg's juke box last night at The Barns at Wolf Trap. He's there again tonight.
Really fun couple of hours. He shows a running list on a screen behind the stage of songs that they will play, and then heads out into the audience to collect requests. In between songs he tells a bunch of stories about his career. At the end of the show he invited anyone who wanted to come on stage and join him for Glory Days. His backing band were The Weeklings, a Beatles tribute band that includes Glen Burtnik who was Tommy Shaw's brief replacement in Styx in the early 1990's. The playlist was mostly rock and roll songs from the 60s and 70s, including a lot of British invasion bands, but also bands like Led Zeppelin, The Band, Cream, Bob Seger, The Ramones, and of course, Springsteen.
The Barns is a great venue, it holds around 300 people, and it's an old barn, so a very intimate setting with fantastic acoustics.
